Eek! Mine was the other week. It's so exciting! You sound very organised!

    So far I have...

Venue booked (civil ceremony at venue)

    Registrar provisionally booked

    Wedding dress half paid

    Shoes bought

OH step dad is making the cake as he used to be a baker

Bridesmaid dresses bought (had to do this early as one has just moved to Kenya!)

    Flowers sorted

    Band sorted

    Photographer sorted

Hairdresser kind of sorted (my regular hairdresser and also a guest, we just haven't sorted the finer details!)

Save the Dates were sent the other week and I have stuff to make the other stationary

Collection of my centrepiece bits is ongoing but I've got a decent stash!

OH went to book suits the other day though final styles aren't decided yet

I'm staying at the venue the night before so I don't need transport but I don't know whether to surprise book something for OH

Actually I'm more organised than I thought! I'm a teacher though and know work this year will be really busy so I wanted to get as much as I could sorted over Summer.

    I have a DJ to!!!
    Hairdresser is sorted to!!

Im thinking of a surprise helicopter ride to the venue but its the expense..... I feel like there isn't anything in the day that's going to be for him I get transport he'll probably drive him self.

    You are very organised!!!

I'm trying to be! Like I say I figured if I get the big stuff sorted now I can relax a bit.

I was thinking of hiring a classic car for him to drive. I think he'd enjoy that much more than being driven Smiley smile I figured if I book it for 24 hours he can take me for a spin the next day!

My OH wanted a big fancy sports car but I could only find minimum of 3 day hire at stupid costs per day!! so I couldn't do it Smiley sad.

Im thinking that to, if its done I can chill!!! yet im still panicking for what reason I don't know I have ages yet!

I'm feeling suitably disorganised hearing your lists!

    I have

    Venue booked

    Caterer booked

    photographer booked

    Florist booked

    Dress half paid

    Bridesmaid shoes

    Stuff to make stationary

    Mum is doing cake

    Friend is doing my shoes

    Some decorative bits bought

My latest issue is band/DJ. I just can't decide. We have found a DJ but i feel like we need a band. We waited around too long and the one we were considering is now booked. Bummer.

I also need to think about hair and make up. I'm wasting time faffing with stupid things like personalized bags for girls!

I would say your doing just fine Smiley smile.

I would of liked a band but I thought of my guests on this one, they all said DJ.

Im thinking on whether to play music through everyone eating?

Exciting! I never got to a year countdown as we booked our venue 11 months in advance.

It'll be my 8 month countdown in three days though! You're much more organised than me Smiley smile

    So far I've got:

    Venue

    Church, organist and bells

Night before accommodation for me (not sorted OH yet)

    Photographer

    Hair and make up booked

    Bridesmaid dresses

    Band

    Sent the save the dates

Bought some bits for the kiddies bags

Written a very long 'to do' list!

And that's about it! I still have some biggies to sort like florist, MY dress and invites. I've got tickets to three wedding fayres in Sept so hoping to knock some things out there but have set myself a 31 Aug deadline for deciding on my dress.

Really we would like both but I'm thinking maybe some strings or something during the reception but not sure if thats a bit twee as we are having a modern/classic rather than traditional wedding in a barn.

    Oh yeh, also booked registrar.

Also need to put pre-wedding dress measurement diet into action properly. Researching local Zumba classes as we speak!

I'd love to do something for my OH as a suprise but can't think what. We can't do transport as we are both staying in the on site accommadation the night before (in separate cottages!!)

MrsLong - get trying every dress you lay your eyes on!

My venue have done something really nice, they don't do menu tasting and I emailed them asking when could we taste the food if we pay, they said that I could go have a meal for free on valentines day.
They also said that the chef sits down with you to discuss what you want.

They are just being rude, I was excited im allowed to be excited its my wedding day but they're being sarcastic and rude and I don't think there is any need.
You come here to chat with other brides, ask for support and advice when needed not to be mocked!

I wouldn't worry. I think a lot can be lost in translation on here. I don't think people set out to offend.

One year to go! Enjoy being excited!

Don't worry I already have! 10 shops done and another two booked for tomorrow. Them its decision time!

Originally we were planning on having a saxophonist for the drinks reception (we got let down by the guy). Why not consider something like that or a guitar player? A bit more modern than a string quartet maybe?

String Quartets can be very modern! Some of our musicians recently played Don't Stop Believing at a wedding! ?
