Nail varnish- New colour suggestions please!

MrsShep, 11 April, 2015 at 22:57 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 22

Today I decided to pamper myself and paint my toes for the first time in a long time. I started with a pretty pink that just didn't look right, then went to a purple, and now they're dark blue! I want a summery colour for flip flops but pinks don't suit me, especially on my toes as I have quite a reddy colouring on my feet (but yellow everywhere else!) and I always wear silver/pearly as my go to. Give me your colour suggestions please!

What about coral or lilac or a pastel blue?

Yeah, I think they'd be lovely, much more summery!

I love coral colours - another vote for that. Also love grey (looks good although doesn't sound summery).

Yellow is a colour very few people can pull off! I don't think I could pull of coral either if I'm honest, but I might try it :-)

Pink and glitz, I'm a but obsessive about keeping my toe nails as short as possible, so French polish wouldn't work.

During sandal wearing weather I tend to paint my toe nails most days - colour to co-ordinate with my outfit. I've even been known to paint them again in the evening if I'm going out!

Oh my god, I could not be bothered with that! I'm so useless at painting nails (I have shaky hands!) And I find that my toes last ages, so if I do it once every couple of weeks they're lucky! I'd got out of it completely over the winter, but I like having pretty toes so I do want to get back into doing it every so often

Im with you on this one, for some reason I don't like a French manicure on the toes (sorry ladies!).

I always like a coral on toes in the summer or deep red in the winter.

It's actually just struck me that I've never had a French Polish. To be fair though, I'd never had my nails done until I had a trial run a few weeks before the wedding! Its pointless having my fingers done because of work, and I have super ticklish feet and keep my nails as short as possible so feet seem pointless too! I'm also lucky that I got the family nails

There are some gorgeous new shades for Spring/Summer, inspired by mermaids/lagoons (I've been translating articles from French women's magazines for work, focused on make-up trends for the new season... So many things I want to try!) - lots of bluey greens, lighter and brighter than the blue you tried. Should be out in shops in the next few weeks!

I've never painted my toenails. My H is the only person who sees my feet, and he has six toes on each foot, so he's gonna win any 'gnarly looking feet' competition we have.

    Ooh, mermaid colours sound lovely!

ID, don't you ever wear sandals etc? My ex didn't like it when I painted my toes so I did get out of the habit, but I like it, makes me feel a bit more polished, especially as I never do anything else along those lines, like wear make up, do my hair etc!

I absolutely won't wear sandals without having my toe nails painted. I'm ridiculously pale and my nails look hideous if they aren't painted.

Mrs Shep - I totally get why you can't be bothered constantly changing the colour but for me it's all part of my summer experience. I also swap my handbag to co-ordinated with each outfit although I have a pewter one which is a good neutral that goes with lots of things.

Accessories are my thing - I have scarves, gloves, umbrellas etc in a wide variety of colours.

No, never. Boots all the way - my feet feel unsupported in shoes generally, and I feel like they make me walk differently (probably cos of my massively high arches) and that puts a strain on my bad hip. Plus, strangely, even though I think of myself as generally quite a sweaty person (attractive), my feet are not a part of me that really ever feels too hot. So I'm fine in my cowboy or baseball boots.

When ever I go on holiday I always paint my toes mint green. The colour goes with anything and looks really summery. Similar to this.

I just bought a new dark pink - pretty much as bright as I've ever gone. I have a weird psychological barrier about light colours, it's the latent teenage Goth in me coming out.
