Name change

AuntieBJ, 27 August, 2014 at 10:40 Posted on Planning 0 12

I've been making a list of people/organisations I need to let know about my change of name after the big event. I am sure I've forgotten something important!!! Help me please ?

Bank

Credit Card

Driving Licence

Passport - I don't have one, so not needed

Open University

CSA

Child benefit

Tax Credits

Car insurance

OH pays all the household bills, but does he need to put my name on them now? (Including mortgage)

Anyone you have loyalty cards with eg Tesco Clubcard, Nectar, Boots

DVLA if you have a car in your name so the tax reminder comes to you correctly etc

Urgh, this is so tedious. As H2B is changing his name and I'm changing my title, we're gonna have to remind each other!

The car registration!! Darn, I'd forgotten that one! I don't work so that one's ok and I'll do the doc and dentist next time I'm there.

    Thank you ladies x

Bleurgh, I was thinking about this too, I don't even wanna start! There are so many, as I have to do all the bills and mortgage too, and we've decided we might as well move them all to our joint account once I've changed that name too.

Oh Lordy I'm dreading this but thanks for posting as I need to write my list. How do you actually change your name? Is there a form you fill out?

Mostly its done after marriage but you can do your passport earlier if you want to travel under your married name I believe.

And as for how, some places like my bank and driving licence need a form, others require just a phone call - I just looked them all up individually and made a note or ordered the form x

Don't forget online accounts like ebay, paypal, amazon, anywhere you shop with regularly online.
