For those that are changing their name when they get married - I thought I would start a list of companies that we will need to change our names with, please feel free to add as I'm sure I'll forget some..

    I'm filled with dread cos it's my H2B doing the changing and I'm willing to bet that most of this has never occurred to him! I suspect I'm gonna be doing a LOT of prompting.

    It's not that bad once you get going. An afternoon on the phone, a couple of visits (some banks do it on the phone, others ask you to go in with the certificate) and a couple of forms/letters.

    Get the passport done before the driving license as then you just put your new passport number on the DL form rather than having to send off your marriage certificate again.

    Get a certified copy of the certificate which you can post off (e.g. for the passport) so you can still take the original round other places that need it whilst the certified copy is away. Saves time and also saves you worrying about the original getting lost in the post.
