Name change tips!

Umbrellacademic, 16 October, 2009 at 20:36 Posted on Planning 0 2

I want to go double barrelled after I get married but there is a plethora of different companies who do deed polls- curious to know your experiences.....Scared to pay lots of money and then not be allowed to use the documents. I want to keep my own name and take OH's. Making me Mrs SINGLE-MARRIED.

My registrar said we didn't need to change my name at all! But that seems unlikely. I think if you just become Mrs MARRIED that's automatci, but the two names need a deed poll.

Thanks!

I thought the wedding certificate acts as a name change - So if you sign it double barreled then that becomes your name and you use it to legally inform companies etc.

When you marry do you always need to do it by deed poll as well then? Its an interesting question!!
