Navy and Ivory Colourscheme

ShootingStar2012, 13 September, 2014 at 08:33 Posted on Planning 0 18

Hi everyone, we're having navy and ivory/cream on our day, so at this stage everything is one or the other. I've been thinking about incorporating one more colour into the flowers, but not sure which. Bridesmaids are in navy floor-length dresses. Thinking maybe a bright colour (maybe pink/red) might look nice, but if it's only featuring in the bouquets will that look weird? If anyone has any other colour suggestions or photos they wouldn't mind sharing it would be much appreciated...

Thanks! Smiley laugh

I think a pop of colour will be lovely and most colours would go. Pink, coral, green - maybe look on Pinterest for some ideas. Our colour scheme is mint green and I'm having pink flowers so I don't think it'll look weird at all.

I had navy & pale pink. My decorations were a mix of ivory, navy & pale pink. The men had navy & pale pink striped ties & polkadot hankerchiefs. My bridesmaid wore navy and theres were our bouquets

Pink looks nice with navy, as does silver.

I am also having a navy blue and ivory colour scheme. Our decorations are navy and ivory with some gold and silver mixed in. Bridesmaid are in navy floor length dresses and their bouquets will be blue orchids (with the turquoise centres). I tried to post some pics of my iinspiration but it just keeps discarding my post. If you google blue orchids you will get an idea. The pop of colour will just be in the bouquets. The flowersnin the centrepieces are all ivory.

Thank you everyone - loads of ideas here! I'm swaying towards hot pink I think (even though tthe wedding is March so yellow could work too...) but don't want it to be too garish, might get some colour swatches and hold them against the dresses to see. If the third colour is only in the bouquets that should look OK (rather than as an afterthought) shouldn't it?

Thanks so much for all your suggestions!

My bridesmaids will be wearing navy too and I'm currently drawn to a mixed colour bouquet for them rather than picking one colour.

    something like this Smiley smile

Ooh I like that - very different and a great idea, will look into it too. I'm the most indecisive person in the world!

Yes the flowers were real. Aren't they beautiful! Our amazing florist brought them to the venue in the boxes. I've just had a look at them and there's no label or indication of where they came from on them, sorry. I'm going to use them to keep all the little keepsakes from the day in.

    These were the buttonholes

I think that if the wedding parties all have the pop of colour it won't look out of place at all (ie - finding a way to get your chosen colour into the groom's outfit, as well) Smiley smile

That's a good point, thanks. So if I incorporate it into his buttonhole it should be OK? Sorry, I'm pretty clueless when it comes to colours and things that match!!

In my opinion, if you have either button holes or even ties/bowties/cravats that match the flowers/BMs it'll match up enough Smiley smile It'll give you a colour to use if you feel the need to make anything else stand out on the day, too! (signs/favours etc)
