My Mother and Nanna went to visit my venue today as they haven't seen it yet.

I got....1. Its not luxurious 2. The rooms needed a clean 3. The receptionist was rude 4. I don't see why you picked it over the marriott 5. My room is too far from the wedding and now I find its £30 cheaper online and they won't refund me 6. your sister isn't coming because she has a baby 7. its a bit out the way for people

Then a oh we didn't mean to upset you ?

I am gutted. Its my wedding I LOVE my venue. I think because they didn't help pick it they are just moody. My Nanna had her heart set on the Marriott.

What's not Luxurious about this!

I don't clean the rooms and I do not work in HR!

I wouldn't mind but my Nanna has specific dietary requirements and they even offered to let her speak to the chef today!

Every hotel has its faults, and I don't see a bit of a carpet missing or a dirty shower head in a guest room I don't care.

All that matters is that you and your partner are happy with your venue. Everyone else can get stuffed! It's your day - not theirs. Personally I think it looks stunning!

This! Personally I'd never have 'let' them go on their own, we took our parents to see our venue in october when they had a open day but were very clear it was out of courtesy and a chance for them to meet each other and help understand things better when/if we need their help. We did not take them as a chance to get their opinion. And this is exactly why I'm not really discussing much wedding details with anyone other than OH and bridesmaids because as soon as you do so you open yourself up to people's opinions. Stick with how you want it and try not to let their negative attitude influence how you feel about it.

It looks lovely from the outside. Ignore them. Like you said they are probably just picking faults as they didn't help you choose your venue.
