My wedding's not till next year and I will probably go with a table plan as we're having our reception in a marquee in the garden and I'm worried that if I have the escort cards on a table somewhere, unless they're attached to something heavy, they are all going to be blown across the garden.

But if I do change my mind, I quite like these:-

particularly the pegs on a line one.

Am really stupid. Whats an escort card? And why does it need a table? I got married last year without an escort card and without the table for them. I now feel inadequate.....

But there's also another site that she talks about. Unless she owns both which is possible?

hmmmm......whatever/whoever this person is, I feel that they should properly introduce them self and give us some information about their wedding and also contribute to other threads before asking question after question and not helping out other Hitchers.

    It's just polite, that's all.

But that maybe just my opinion.

It's like an American way of telling you what table you're on, I think. Or placecard.

Penguin i have no idea. Is it where they pick their name up and take it to a table of their choice?

Ooh la la it is polite but i would never have noticed!

<dumb icon> what on earth is an escort card?

teehee, i thought exactly the same as you when the OP posted...

what i think i shall do instead of escort cards, is hire a flock of white doves, who will have silken ribbons at their disposal. the doves will then tie a ribbon round each guests wrist, take the ribbon in their beak and as they fly gently through the air, gently lead the guest to the table where they will be sitting. the dove will then also act as the guest's wedding favour, so the guests have a long lasting living reminder of our special day.

our guest book table will be surrounded by dancing girls, fire eaters, and performing circus dwarves, so that people make sure not to miss it!

This is exactly what I had - you are stealing my idea! <reality icon> just get a BM to get everyone to sign and it and pass it around the tables?<back to craziness icon>

Anyway, back to the lucky chimney sweep......

    Hi Penguin

Escort cards are more widely used in the US instead of table plans. They are basically just a card (sometimes in an envelope) with the name of the guest/couple/family followed by the table they are seated at. They are usually displayed on a table (often in alphabetical order), strung on a string or tied to a tree display. So rather than finding your name on a tableplan you would pick out your little card instead.
