Need some help!

vickyben, 23 January, 2013 at 20:51 Posted on Planning 0 6

My fiance and I have booked our wedding ceremony in December at 2:45, and, to keep the cost down, we aren't going to be having a sit down meal.

We are struggling for ideas to entertain our guests for the afternoon period, as we dont want to start the 'party' too early, for fear of people getting too 'merry' and peaking too soon, but we wanted there to be enough daylight hours after the ceremony for some photos.

Any suggestions for entertainment/activities would be greatly appreciated!!!!

What time will the buffet be? Its a very long day for guests, esp if they have had to get ready & travel to get to the venue. If they arent getting ANY food till later in the evening, I think its too long.

Is there any outdoor space? Could you have giant jenga, connect four etc to keep people entertained?

If there are places for people to sit, you could have a quiz. At my brothers wedding, each table got a list of wedding related questions. What is given as a wedding gift in nepal, what is the blacken, where do hindu brides wear their wedding ring etc? The most accurate table got a prize & the funnier questions got read out.

Maybe winter pimms or mulled wine too?

I would start the evening reception at 6pm and have the time in between the ceremony and evening reception for photos, drinks reception, nibbles and mingling.

Maybe look at having some sort of background music even if it's a CD as I presume it'll be inside at that time of year?

We are having Warm apple cider for the men and either baileys hot choc's or peppermint scnapps hot chocs as it will be a feb wedding.

Eneterainment wise, depends on what you are into, something like a magician or charactieur (sorry haven't got a clue how to spell it) or quiz about the happy couple

    Hi,

I dont know if you would like this kind of idea to entertain guests. we are booking a singer who also is a dj. he sings ratpack and jazz and is very good. he mingles within the crowd with your setting what ever they are doing. getting them joining in, if you want him to, or getting them up to dance or just sings in the corner. after a break he does the disco and now and then comes out and sings again. just an idea.....
