Need some help

Enasy, 24 March, 2013 at 18:30 Posted on Planning 0 11

Hi everyone, i'm new here but was wondering if I could pick your brains.

I live in Bolton and am ripping my hair out trying to find venue I like. I would like to have a late ceremony and a sit down meal for the evening party. There will only be about 20 people attending our wedding including us. Sooo I have been looking at private dining instead of a full wedding reception. a small room with a dining table and a bar. Our families do not live local so I would prefer it to be in a hotel or have a hotel near by.

I found The Restaurant Bar & Grill in Manchester. I Love the private dining room they show but not so keen on the food and no where for guests to stay.

Cost is a big issue, huge issue. we want to spend as little as possible after all we are in it for the marriage not the wedding.

ideally I would like to put this room inside a hotel and have the whole thing happen there. If anyone knows of anywhere please help

Agree that Restaurant Bar and Grill isn't the best food. Not dreadful but nothing special.

What's your budget? I'm a Manchester girl, who likes restaurants!

What about Michael Caine's (famous chef on the tele) at Abode Hotel. They do private dining and the set private dining menus start fromonly £30.00 for three courses or they do Al la Carte menu as well. Then you can stay in the Abode Hotel. I thought the food etc was reaslly reasonable compared to some resteraunts and my hubby has been here a few times with work linches etc and always raves about the food.

Not from your area so unable to give specific recommendations however we are having a intimate wedding in a hotel, so I wouldn't rule them out however we generally found in most cases hotels tend not to 'sell' their smaller meeting/banqueting rooms as part of wedding packages or even in the wedding sections of their websites so bare that in mind when looking browsing their websites.

We don't want to spend much over £1000

I know that is going to shock alot of people but this will be my second wedding. I did the massive wedding last time and it didnt work out. This is just about the two of us and our parents. I wont be going for the big dress either and no photographer. So the budget is just for ceremony and food.

£30 a head sounds good total of £600 for dinner

Michael Cains is alright if you like foam.

What about lovely little country places, Peruga in Marple, for example? Jem and I or Rhubarb in Didsbury?

I'm not local so not making a recommendation as such but looking through the lancashire wedding venues I see The Inn at Whtewell which on paper at least has everything you want: rooms, private dining for 20, wedding licence. Meals start at £34. No idea what it's actually like but the website makes it look charming and trip advisor seems full of positive reviews.

    Congratulations on your engagement :-)

The Inn at Whitewell is lovely, and there's loads of venues in the Ribble Valley, what about Northcote?

We're getting married at Beeston Manor, not sure if it fits your bill or not?

And we looked somewhere that had a private dining room in a hotel but I can't remember where, might have been Preston Marriott or maybe Dunkenhalgh.

Have you looked on trip advisor ?

You can search the top rated restaurants in your area
