About five weeks ago I purchased a sparkly belt on Etsy for my dress. It said that the seller had two available. A few days later when I hadn't had confirmation of dispatch I emailed asking where it was. I got told that it would take her two weeks to make. I replied saying it said she had two available, that I didn't have long until my wedding and that I only bought from her because she had two available. She said she'd hurry it but she didn't and about 25 days after I ordered it it was dispatched. I was getting it sent to a friend in the States who had promised to remove all packaging and send it immediately - trying to avoid customs. Five days after it arrived with her she posted it, but was doing it by special 3 day post. Should have got here last Saturday then. Earlier this week I emailed her asking if she had tracking information as it hadn't arrived. Emailed her again yesterday. This afternoon she sends me on details - customs had it.
I started crying when I read this. I know she was doing me a favour (though of course I am paying for the postage costs). If she'd removed the tags etc it would have been here last saturday. I've just had to pay £50 to pay the customs charges, handling fee and get it redelivered tomorrow, which isn't guaranteed. I leave for Ireland early Monday. I'll be pretty gutted if I don't have it as the dress looks too plain for my liking without it.
I'm trying not to let myself get annoyed with my friend. I'm starting to feel very bridezilla. I've managed so far not to get stressed about anything but right now I just want to order a big pizza and cry.
EDIT:
well at 1.30 there was a knock on the door and my belt was here. Then it was a dash into town to try and on and collect my dress. Well I am just in heaven. So thrilled with the dress and the belt. Here's a flashy!
They're all packed up in a box now, ready for Monday's flight to Ireland. An enormous thanks to you lovely supportive hitchers, especially CB - your offer was so kind and put my mind so totally at ease last night.
