Nervous about the big day (understatement)

becs1975, 9 September, 2013 at 21:43 Posted on Planning 0 2

So... it's now about 8 weeks till the big day, and I'm so anxious it's tying me up in knots. Is this normal? It's not being married I'm scared of, it's the whole being scrutinised and looked at and all the attention being on us that quite frankly, terrifies me. I have massive insecurities on my looks/ figure etc, and at times, I wish we'd done something really small. I am looking forward to it too (don't want to sound like a misery guts) just super scared. Also worried I'll look like a dumpy twat in the photos. Does anyone else feel this nervous????

I'm sure it's perfectly normal and I know i'll feel this way too!
Try and enjoy it though, you'll look beautiful and it's your big day so try your best to enjoy and lap up the attention, all attention will be good anyway and the focus on the bride is in a good way. Everyone will only be thinking of how lovely you'll look and how happy you both are as a couple so although the nerves probably won't go away too quick, have a champers and try and relax Smiley laugh

I fully understand where you are coming from! I even had panic attacks about having panic attacks lol!

I'm far from shy and have grown up in the world of theatre, so I'm used to being in the spotlight but it's different when you're not playing a character so I was really concerned I would freak out. Our rehearsal was 2 days before the wedding so I spoke to the vicar to make sure there was somewhere I could sit if my legs went to jelly and I bought rescue remedy in the hope that it might work in calming me down.

Anyway, the big day arrived and I was the first up, loads to do (like making 4 bouquets and 20 odd buttonholes!) so I cracked open the bubbly and got on with it. All very relaxed and raring to go. Just a couple of tiny butterfly moments on my way to church and waiting to walk down the aisle, but they were more excited flutters.... I just wanted to see my man and do the deed!

It's normal to be nervous- it shows how much it means to you. Just enjoy the ride and you will be fine :0) xx

I can't offer any advice but if it helps I feel really anxious about the same thing! I've got eight months to go still but the thought of walking down the aisle and people looking at me make me feel sick with anxiety. I hate the thought that people are looking at me and I hate being the most dressed up in a room and even this far ahead I'm feeling pretty anxious about this aspect. I'm trying to ignore it and focus on the details for now but nearer the time I know it's going to creep in. I'm hoping I can just focus on the nice bits like being with family and friends/seeing my H2B and getting to marry him and hoping I'll forget to feel anxious when the time comes (fingers crossed anyway!). I hope it starts to ease soon for you!
