I've not been around very long, after having finally got the OH discussing the big 'W' word. Long story, but need to organise the venue now as it's fully booked until 2016! We know it's going to happen one day, and it's a compromise between me asking him a year ago (and him refusing as the time wasn't right lol) and me waiting for him to feel it's the right time to officially propose. I needed somewhere to talk about it all without boring him to death or frightening him off as it;'s still so early lol. Luckily he likes me doing the girly thing on here, and it means he can do the fella thing and competely ignore it all lol

Thank you all so much for the warm welcome!

We've just got back from seeing 2 more venues & I'm suddenly feeling overwhelmed with how much we have to think about. How did everyone know which venue was for them? I've seen 4 venues so far, all absolutely stunning but I was expected to be hit by this 'I want to get married here' feeling which I haven't had as of yet. I feel that the venue is the most important factor but I want to make sure we go for what feels right to us rather than what suits our families! I feel a little confused rather than excited right now!!

What venues have you looked at so far? Can see you're based in Derby. Have you looked into The Priest House? It's lovely setting and the team there are fantastic.

I would say don't rush into the venue, for me it was a bit like the dress- once we had seen our venue nothing else came close. It wasn't necessarily the most expensive, convenient or anything but it was the one!

We have looked at the priest house & it is beautiful, however our friends who also recently got engaged have booked it so we don't want to step on their toes.

I've so far looked at

Shottle Hall, Dovecliffe Hall, Makeney Hall, Derby Conference Centre, Cathedral Quarter Hotel.

I've got Newton Park Hotel & Tissington Hall that I want to look at as well. OH wants to look at Trent Bridge Cricket Ground too!

I went to see Dovecliffe, Makeney, and Priest House too, and booked Shottle! We also went to look at Sutton Bonington Hall, Horsley Lodge, Mickleover Court, Breadsall Priory, and Blackbrook House. All worth a look ?
