New Email Address - too excited to wait!

laura02010, 14 December, 2012 at 09:50 Posted on Planning 0 16

It's a bit premature (Not getting married for another 6 months) but I have just set up my new married name email address!!! Obviously I won't be using it until after the wedding but was so funny seeing it all set up!

Anyone else too excited to wait to do things like this? xx

LOL! Haven't even thought about doing that but back along when my OH applied for Necter cards he got mine in my married name so I don't have to change it once married!!! How thoughtful ? It's weird seeing it written down for real tho.

    ?

I'm afraid this reminds me of when you are 12 years old and write your new name (ie Mrs Bieber) all over your note book.....

Can't say I will be rushing to do it. I will be keeping my old email address for personal use and my work one will be changed after the wedding

I've got mine already registered ️?️. My married name is very common and I was able to get my name @live.co.uk without having to add any dots, underscores, numbers etc so thought I'd bagsy it a few months early! We're planning everything else towards our future so why not chuck the email address in the mix too Smiley smile

I'm the opposite. I have always planned to change my name but I've never felt any sort of bubble of excitement about it, to be honest. I'm not looking forward to the admin side of things and as for my personal email address, I'm going to keep my current one and simply edit my last name.

I agree, I have seen the list of people that need notifying about change of name, so my email address will be the last thing I will be thinking of! Plus, i believe it is tempting fate to organise things like this so far in advance

OH is changing his name to mine but I bet it'll still be down to me to sort the admin! A lot of people call him is surname as a nickname and still will after the wedding so his current email (surname1) will work anyway. Don't think it's tempting fate to set it up though, if you thought like that you couldn't plan a wedding!

That's unusual Ellebob - if you don't mind me asking, what made you both decide to do it this way?

I am not changing my name (and neither is he), so I've not had to think about anything like this

Well my mum kept her name when she got married and agreed with my dad that daughters would take her name and sons his name. They only had girls so my dad had a different name to us. We discussed it when we first got together because I'd come from a background of not automatically assuming I'd take his name and we decided it was important to us to have the same family surname.

Our names don't go double-barrelled because they both end in 'son', and we weren't creative enough to come up with a new one so when I was pregnant we decided we'd pick whichever of our surnames went better with our first child's name. His surname starts with a K and sounds silly with Kaia so we chose my surname. We liked Rhys for a boy and my surname starts with an R so probably would have gone with his if we had a boy.

We originally planned for him to change his name when Kaia was born so it was our family name but we were engaged by that point and OH said he sees it more as a commitment to me so he'd rather change it on our wedding day.

Funnily enough, I have been considering this.

    Thank you for explaining ?

My old email was a really immature sounding one I'd set up when I was 14, so I was eager to change it but thought I'd wait until i got married so it could incorperate my married name - which is why I did it. it was quite exciting though!

I don't think I could be bothered to change my email address as had the same one since I was about 14! I can't say I'm looking forward to changing my name really- just sounds like it's going to be a massive hassle! Even more so, because I'm keeping my maiden name for work, so not sure how confusing that will get!
