New T mobile contracts?

I've just finished an 18 month contract with T mobile, according to their shop and customer service they have no handsets to offer me but can offer a new contract (100mins/100 texts) for £10 a month (should be £15). The advice was try tesco or argos as they have some good deals on handsets. I've agreed to the contract but looking online they clearly have phones available for the contract I've agreed to (although they have offered £5 a month discount so I could buy a sim free phone with the money I'd save). Has anyone else been told a similar thing regarding no handsets being offered?

Don't start me on T mobile and contracts I had a mammoth row with them in June upgrading a contract - it ended up with me sending a stinking letter to their head office and we are now with orange!

They seem to look after new customers better than existing ones - the man in the shop was trying to get me to buy a PAYG phone and transfer it to my contract - bizarre!

I can't understand why a mobile phone company can't provide me with a mobile phone!? Think I'll read through the contract when it arrives in the post and see if they have a cooling off period.
