We normally do something with our siblings. Normally a pub, or a night at one of theirs.

This year we are going away to Center Parcs for 3 nights with the in-laws and their friends (it's the friends 25th wedding anniversary). Couldn't refuse it as it's all being paid for by them!

We usually go to my BIL's house for a meal, but this year everything is up in the air and depends on when my daughter decides to put in an appearance.

We used ot go to a street prty in Glasgow but it no longer runs, and hasn't for a while, think this will be year three. So, it's been pretty boring, as we've ended up in a pub both times. This year we are hosting so will have everyone over from 7ish for nibbles and drinks, music, etc.

We have , since we moved to our house, had a house party with around 20 or so people..theres always a theme! first year was gold and black, second was red robin and then we had countires of the world! for that one everyone picked 2 countires out of a hat and had to dress accordingly and also bring two dishes from that country!! was bizarre and fun at the same time!!

This year il be 8.5mths preggo so not sure of the plan?

Last year we were on our minimoon in Edinburgh for Hogmonay (was amazing).

Our first New Year together hubby (then boyfriend) took me to Edinburgh as well.

In the past, it has been house parties, pubs, etc. Not sure what we are doing this year. It seems soooo far away but then soooo close - eeeek!

I'm not really one for NYE. H is normally working throughout xmas and new year so I generally go to a family party.

For us it has alternated between house parties or pub-my birthday is jan 2nd and I always like to be close to home for some reason! I prefer to have a gathering at our house with pre party drinks at the local.

I will be all on my own this year as H will be having his kids over New Year. I sometimes get invited out with friends but otherwise will go to bed at 10pm like a big Scroogey humbug!!

I'll probably just be at home with M and Little T as we are unlikely to have a babysitter. Might invite some friends over and cook something yummy

I hate new year so much.

My dad left us on new years eve so it always feels a bit wrong and its so stupid (been nine years!!) but I don't like leaving my mum or brother in the house in case they leave too. I realise how childish this sounds but I really hate going out. Since being with H we have gone to his aunties once which was nice but he's been trying to make our own wee traditions so I can enjoy it more.

We just cook a load of party food and watch the fireworks in our pjs.

I work NYE too and I Usually start at like 4.30am so I'm exhausted and don't last very long, Two years ago I was asleep at 8 as I had the flu! New years day is a massive steak pie and watch tv and laze about with as much food as humanly possible.

I really dislike NYE - it's always such a let down! Last few years it's been in my home village - someone's house, then the pub, which is a poor excuse for a pub. My mum doesn't like it either and I feel guilty knowing she's in on her own, even though she insists she's ok, so I ususally bring in the bells with her on way to the pub!

Thoroughly rubbish every single year, (what's the New Year equivilent of Bah Humbug??!!)

Every year I say my NY Resolution is to find a proper party for the next year, and it never happens!!

    Completely agree ATB.

My mam used to have cracking NY parties when we had the big house in Shields.

Since then, the best one has probably been in the inlaws local pub.

No idea what our plans are, it's aaages away. Does anyone else find that NYE seems to last twice as long as any other evening? It feels like it takes forever to get to midnight, whereas it doesn't on a normal night.

We always spend it just the two of us. We go shopping in the afternoon in town and have a nice lunch and some drinks, come home and make either a posh 3 courser or a lovely buffet nibbley thing, lots of champagne and get Jools holland on. We set a lantern off at midnight and go out into the street to bring in the new year and watch the fireworks. Then we will ring our families. We did go out one year but it was so annoying, 3 deep at the bar, we were home by quarter past 12!!

We normally spend it just the two of us. We're prety selfish with our time together! We have stayed in before and just watched hootenanny, but last year we decided to go out. Went to a local italian restaurant and had a ball! they had a dJ etc and we partied all night it was great!

This year, we're going down to Watergate bay and staying in an apartment, 15 cornwall for the NYE party. Really looking forward to it! It (hopefully) will be the last one before we have some little ones so we want to make the most of it.

Me and my mates used to go raving and get completely wasted however I have always found nye a big let down, over priced, over crowded and over rated, so since I've been with OH we went to Thailand for our first NYE together? The other 2 years we stayed in got hammered and watched the fireworks off our balcony....Alan Cars NYE show last year was one of the funniest shows ever!!

We usually hire a cottage or stay in a B&B in the Highlands / Isle of Skye for New Year. It's become a bit of a tradition with us, am hoping we can do it this year if funds allow.

We usually sit there fighting sleep and watching sh!te TV until midnight, go outside to wish Happy New Year to any neighbours who happen to be outside also, then scurry off to bed and grumble about fireworks
