New Years Resolutions...Anyone making any?

debs1701, 27 December, 2009 at 18:41 Posted on Planning 0 28

I say the same thing every year about joining the gym but I think I might give it a miss for the time being until I get used to doing some exercise using my new Wii game "Your Shape" ?

Anyone else?

We haven't decided yet. A couple of years ago it was to pay off the debts which we did. This year, not sure. Probably some sort of saving one I think. Still need to get on the property ladder so need mega bucks for a deposit ☹️

Even though we have a house I still want one to call ours and not his, even though we have lived together for years I still refer to this house as his, it's still very bachelor pad like and I love the idea of having a blank canvas to make our own so house hunting could be added to our list too ?

Don't like the thought of renting but if we could rent to buy it might be something to look into ?

    This year mine were:

To be more spontaneous- I went on a last minute skiing holiday in Feb even though I am not at all sporty and I hated it but still gave it a go!

To pass my events course- Passed with top marks just before Christmas!

To get a new job- I applied for a few but nothing suitable came up

    Lose weight- Ultimate fail!

This year with a year till the wedding I am aiming to lose weight (again) and just get the wedding organised!

I never make them as I know I wont keep them but so many things have just begun in my life that there is one aspect I know is important, to work hard and not give up!

    Mine are....

1.) Diet, exercise more and loose weight.

2.) Undertake a "photo a day" and stick to it!

3.) Build on my new relationship with my Dad.

Good luck to all those setting new year resolutions.

I'd also like to drink more water!

My skin hasn't looked too good recently- particularly on my back- and I'd like to see if drinking more will help.

I'd also like to learn to do the splits and be able to do a handstand without a wall!

My resolutions for 2009 were to lose weight and learn to drive. I passed my driving test in March and have lost 3 1/2 stone this year.

Because I was successful this year, I'm going for a biggie this year: stopping biting my nails. It's terrible. I need to stop for the wedding anyway, so hopefully I will break the habit entirely by then.

I'm also going to keep going to the gym, cut more fat out of my diet for general improved health and I think I'm going to do a no-drinking January. Anyone with me on the no-drinking January? Good for your liver and for calories too, but I think it could be hard alone!

I never bother but there are a few things this year I'd like to make more of an effort on. I'd like to continue my weight loss. I've lost a stone but would like to lose another 7-14lbs before my first dress fitting at the end of March.

I'd like to step up my beauty routine, not just for the wedding but as i'm getting on a bit now i've noticed a change in my skin over the last year so i'd like to drink more water and ensure i'm properly cleansing and moisturising twice a day (I only really do this properly at night at the moment).

I'd like to keep on top of my house. I feel like it's a never ending circle and it's just a tip so once we've cleared the place up over the next few days I'd like to keep it that way.

I'd also like to make a big effort to clear some debt!

I've only made one so far..... and that's to wear more dresses and skirts. Working from home means I tend to be in trousers most of the time as it's more comfy. I very rarely wear a skirt, mainly because I have trouble finding dresses and skirts that fit. I'm only 5ft and most of the dresses that have been in fashion the last few years are long and trailing on the floor or with plunging necklines which, being small, means that most of them go down to my belly button! Looking round yesterday at some of the new stuff coming into the shops for Spring, it looks like short dresses are in - thank God! So that's mine so far, to show my legs to the world - best get some fake tan because they're lily white Smiley sad

My aim for the year is to try not to get so stressed about things and not to take things to heart all the time. Actually, I'm sure I made this one last year!

Lose weight in time for dress fitting - ideally half a stone to a stone in weight (want to get back into my size 8's!). I have until May so I should be ok but it's the keeping it off that's the hardest part. I need to stop snacking!

To actually go to the gym and work out... rather than having a gossip and going in the sauna! So my arse still fits in my jeans by the wedding!

Sort out my nails... I use to always have immaculate nails... now... nasty!

Have hair cut at least three times before wedding!... I'm so bad at having it cut... my hair is long and very wavy and thick, i object to spending money on it when it looks the same the day after you have it done!

Stop hurting myself... not in a 'i cut myself' way, more in a i fall down the stairs and walk into door frames kind of way!... It's ridiculous! I'm always covered in bruises and cuts.

    Erm... there must be more!

    Mine are

    1. to stop biting my finger nails. this has been something I have tried to work on for years and years! OH has threatened not to marry me unless I have nice fingers so need to work on that!

    2. To do some excercise so I can tone up for the wedding and honeymoon, and I am really unfit. Found a class I want to try out just got to go.

    3. to meet more people. i have lived in the area for just over a year and still only the know the people i work with, and OH's friends and family. I need some friends of my own! and hopefully the excercise classes will be a way forward for that.

    - dry January

    - ride my horses more during week, they cost me a fortune for just a 'weekend' hobby!

That made me laugh because I thought I was the only person to walk into things. I have a huge bruise on my arm from walking into the door frame yesterday. lol ?

Mine are lose a stone and a half before the wedding

Save more money and not spend it on clothes and takeaways ?

Use my gym membership more, as right now they're gaining money for nothing.

Start going back to yoga as my weight loss seemed to happen easier when I was at yoga.

    Lxx

My NYR is to get a life!!!

I haven't been out all over xmas and its my own fault cos I won't ask anyone to babysit my son. I've always been really independant, stubborn and refuse to ask anyone for help . . . i've had a flippin boring xmas and I know its my own fault.

Must try to remember im not superwoman and can't do everything all by myself!

Well I'm afraid I'm doing the boring and the obvious. I'm gonna sort myself out and really lose some weight. After all I've got a good reason now haven't I. I have told people I'm not going to start dress shopping until I feel happier about my weight and I'm certainly not going to have wedding photos of me at this size. I'm not asking to be proper skinny but I know what looks good for me and it's gonna be a long hard slog but it'll be soooooo worth it. So, bring on Operation Skinny Bride!!!

Oooh I want to add this one too, please can I pinch it ??? ?

I never wear skirts and I've got a few nice ones in the wardrobe. Last time I wore a skirt I wore it to work and everyone commented (in a nice way) and because of the attention I never wore it again. My weight doesnt help - I'm so much bigger than I used to be and it doesn't fill me full of confidence so these 2 resolutions will go hand in hand.
