happy&stressed, 20 July, 2009 at 16:03 Posted on Planning 0 5

Hello Everyone

I'm new on here, although i did put my dress and ring flash up!!

I'm getting married on New Years Eve and really can't wait. Its my 2nd marriage and I am stressing abit about things and worrying my dress fit properly. (have had a panic that cus its my 2nd marriage can i still do the big dress thing or will i look mutton) I would also love to know if any of you have any ideas that we could do as the clock strikes midnight and to generally make it a really good new years party. Budget is getting a bit tight now so hopefully nothing too expensive.

Would really appreciate your help xx

Congratulations and welcome! I'm sure you'll look fab in your dress (I'll have to go and have a look on the dress flash now ?. As regards ideas for the party, you could have lanterns which your guests write good wishes on and then let them go at midnight. Or indoor sparklers for everyone to have with a toast at midnight to spell out happy wishes for you!

    Hey happy&stressed.

I'm also getting married on New Years Eve and to be honest hadn't really thought about entertainment for midnight.

We are having a small wedding in Scotland so after our late lunch meal we are going to head back to my mum's house to continue the party and probably bring in the New Year with the help of BBC Scotland's countdown.

Fireworks might be a nice idea though ......

How is the rest of your planning going?

Amee, yours sounds lovely i can imagine hogmany in Scotland, how fab and it is exciting isn't it, i can't wait to see in the new year with the man of my dreams as his wife. I definatly want to do the countdown bit and all do auld lang signe together, but im just trying to think of something that little bit extra, mind you most of the guests are bound to be p****d by then!!!! The rest of the planning is going well, main things to sort now are flowers, cake and favours, hows yours going?

Have you noticed too that because its new year, prices have gone up!!!

Just wanted to pop in and say welcome to Hitched and also that I think New Year weddings are fab, there is something quite magical and a little bit extra special about that time of the year.

Good luck with the rest of your planning, I am sure your dress looks fab x

H&S - funny you should mention about seeing in the new year married as we felt the same way - admittedly H2B was slightly shocked when I text him (we live our lives by text at the minute due to his shifts) last Sunday asking how he felt about a NYE wedding. He must have thought I'd finally lost the plot.

We've had a difficult few years and although we had originally booked for Sept next year I couldn't bare the thought of having to scrimp and save for the next year and a bit to afford the day we had started planning. We had booked to go 'home' (where I'm from) for christmas and new Year anyway so now we get to have a small wedding with those who can make it and start off the new year and a new decade afresh.

Thankfully everything seems to be working out well, except for the guest list but that can't be helped. Church is booked, reception venue is booked - just waiting for menu's, florist has been notified, photographer is sorted....... big prob is finding a dress, esp in only four and a bit months
