Hello,

I'm a newbie here. i'm getting married on/around 6th April 2013. I have no ideas of anything yet. just popping in to say hello and ask people for venue ideas my wedding breakfast and evening reception in the Northumberland/Newcastle area. I don't want anything too far out because i don't want to make m guests pay for hotels and a lot of people we are inviting don't drive and live in Newcastle so we need it to be fairly easily accessible or cheap to reach by taxi from city Centre.

Unfortunately not, photography is our specialism. I'm sure there will be someone who can point you in the right direction regarding videography in your area though. Don't be afraid to post, we're all very friendly in here Smiley smile

    Hi and welcome.

Was going to suggest As You Like It.

Or how about one of the museums? https://www.twmuseums.org.uk/userfiles/Wedding(3).pdf

Videographers: I can't recommend these as haven't contacted them yet but their stuff looks great.

I'm from South Shields originally but live in Leeds now.

btw, love Newcastle where I have done shedloads of corporate work and in Northumberland in general.....its a fantastic area. Sadly I don't know of vids up your way...glad the tog is sorted...who are you having?

We have our venue for the ceremony sorted and Holy Island is a bit... tricky with tides and the road to it and things like that.

My photographer is a friend of a family friend. shes going to do it cheap for him (mated rates) and charge him cost and he's passing on no cost to us as a wedding gift Smiley smile

Welcome, I'm pretty new to and also from the North East.

I over heard a girl talking about the Baltic Flour Mill... Very central and with some amazing views cause I think you have your reception on the top floor.

Oh and also I was at a wedding in the summer at the Race Course, was most impressed, and dont think it was ridiculously priced.

    Good Luck Smiley smile

    Hi!

another Newcastle bride here! If you go on Newcastle city Council website & Northumberland Council website they both have an extensive list of approved venues within their districts.

Although I see that you have a ceremony venue, so for after you can probably look at other venues which don't have a license?

How many guests will you have? What type of reception are you after? Lots of restaurants could also cater for you and might not have the hefty "wedding" price tag. For example we're having our reception at Pitcher & Piano, a meal for 40 followed by an evening do for 120ish and its a lot cheaper than a hotel for example.

I expect to have 35-45 day guests and about 55-65 evening guests and i want something thats nice, but my sister got married a few years ago and it was in the thistle hotel by the central station and i want the complete opposite to it. we're always getting compared to each other and i don't want any of that for my wedding. Maybe something more cosy and intimate, not SMALL, but cosy feeling and warm. The thistle hotel was lovely, but I didnt like that everyone and their uncle had had their reception there and they compared her wedding decorations, her table plans etc etc.

I want something cosy and the polar opposite and looking at As You Like It online, it seems to be the kind of shabby chic that i adore - and more chic than shabby. there's a difference between shabby chiq and plain shabby lol I don't want it to look like my auntie Margaret's living room.

As You Like It is fab! I love it there, friend from work recently had her whole day they and said it was great. I wanted to have our wedding there too but my H2B wasn't as keen, although we celebrated our engagement there with cocktails! Food is great and I think cost is extremely reasonable too.

Ive had a look at their wedding brochure and looks brilliant! only thing that concerns me is the buffet menu for the evening because my OH wouldn't like anything on it, but im sure i could negotiate something

is the food good quality for the wedding party? only ever had a Sunday meal there but their cocktails are GORGEOUS!
