sparklesammy, 12 August, 2011 at 16:12 Posted on Planning 0 6

Hello,

I just joined the site, im getting married next sept. we have set the date and booked the church and reception venue. we live in Edinburgh so are getting married here. the church is Greyfriars kirk and the venue is the hub on the royal mile.

Have been trying on dresses but not many. anyone got any recommendations of bridal boutiques in edinburgh or near by?

Also, we have thought about honeymooning in hawaii. anyone been? hotel recommendations?

    Hi Sam Smiley smile

I love Greyfriars kirk! such a gorgeous church, lucky lady!

Anyway, I got my dress from Lamesley Bridal on Broughton Street, Carly there is lovely and stocks some really beautiful dresses that are a bit more 'vintage' in style rather than lots of shiny fabric and typical princessy dresses.

I also had great service in Kudos in Morningside and was impressed with the selection of dresses in Pretty Woman on London Road. Emma Roy was a bit hit and miss, first girl I dealt with was great but the second one didn't know her stuff with regards to how dresses could be altered/have straps added. Butterflies in the Grassmarket was very busy when I was in and I felt very rushed to try on and get out (despite having booked an appointment for both me and my bridesmaid). The staff in Caroline Castigliano were lovely (but you would expect that for what you pay for dresses there). I've heard great things about the dresses in PanPan although I've also heard that you get given white gloves to wear while browsing the dresses!?My sister got her dress from LaNovia and I know they are about to move to a new shop.

    Hope this helps Smiley smile

    Thanks thats really helpful!

funnily enough it was lamesley bridal that i went to first. i tried on a lovely dress called kelly by Stepahnie Allin. and that would be the shape of dress i would be looking for. have made an appt for pretty woman next Smiley smile

i would be reluctant to go to emma roy as my fiance is connected to the owners from a previous relationship, so that might be awkward, but yip i will look in to the others that you pointed out!

thanks for the advice Smiley smile

Is Kelly the one with the belt? I tried that on and loved the style but the shape didn't really work with my figure... I've ended up with a completely different Ritva Westenius that makes me go 'wow' Smiley smile
