    Hi Again!

And thank you for the posts. It's nice to know that I'm not the only one that had to wait such a looonnnnngggg time Chocolategirl... I didn't think it was ever going to happen.

Well.. To answer some of your questions.... the proposal story.... not conventional but very sentimental and typical of 'us.' Here goes:

My H2B is in the forces and the last few months have been tricky as we were in the process of buying/selling our house and then we found out that he was going to be out of area... due to leave of my birthday, be away for the house move (which was extremely difficult in every aspect of the word), away for Christmas, New Year, our dd's birthday and then his... so all in all a very crappy and stressful time.

However, all things considered I vowed to try my best for our dd and to make our new home as homely as possible whilst he was away ready for his return.

He skype's as often as possible.... and Christmas day meant that he had to set his alarm really early so that he could skype and watch our dd open her presents. This was lovely as although he was several thousand miles away he didn't miss the joy on her face and this is when she read 'Santa's' letter explaining that he'd saved some presents for Christmas part 2 when daddy comes home.

After this he'd asked if I'd opened the present that he'd left behind. He'd been telling me for weeks that he'd only got me something small, a token gift so that I had something to open on Christmas day. He'd left it in a padded parcel envelope marked....'Open and Xmas.' and I only actually found this when unpacking in our new home and had to resist the temptation of opening it.

Anyway... I told H2B that I hadn't opened it as I was waiting for his call and wanted him to open the token gifts that I'd sneakily packed into his luggage before he left. (These really were tokens,, CDs, DVD, chocolate etc) as our Christmas was going to be in the New Year when he returned. Our DD went upstairs and I asked her to bring the parcel down from daddy's drawer in the bedroom.... he specifically didn't want me to get it just incase the WIFI signalled dropped and we lost connection. Bless her, she came down with the 'parcel' really quickly and I fumbled with one hand to open it... as I was using my mobile to skype. Inside the parcel I found a beautiful white gift back with silver hearts and satin ribbons and on it it said... 'To (daffodilly), open at xmas Love (H2B) xxx. Inside that, again I was fumbling with one hand was a beautiful duck-egg blue box with matching ribbon again and on it said the name of the company... my heart was racing like crazy but I didn't want to get my hopes us just incase I was running away with myself and it was a 'normal' piece of jewelry. Once I finally untied this ribbon there was the beautiful ring box and I was eager yet reluctant to open it.... but eventually .... whilst looking at him constantly smiling at me.... there it was!

A beautiful princess cut, white gold, diamond ring! The boy had done good! For once in my life I was silent! and h2b rattled off the 'qualities' of the ring and said.... does it fit? I tried it on and he simply asked 'yes or no.' It fitted perfectly.... he was still smiling and laughing and said... I told you it was only something small!

The Christmas I had been dreading with him away has now been transformed into one of the most memorable Christmases of my life. So ladies... I know it's not the traditional one knee, romantic meal type of occasion.... but for us it's perfect! And now I simply can't wait for him to come home so that we can celebrate together and start PLANNING! :-)

That's such a lovely engagement story!!!!

I bet you can't wait for him to come home even more so than usual.

OH and I have also been together a long time, we will have been together 11 years on the day we marry.

Where abouts are you thinking of marrying?

    PMSL @ 'stuff-em' comment! :-)

He's due back middle to end of January - missing him like crazy anyway but now I really really want him home. It's very strange because I always miss him but this time, even before the proposal, I have been missing him so much more than I normally do. I usually keep myself busy have a few low moments but simply get on with things - this time has been really hard. Bless him he went away from one house leaving his partner and daughter and is returning to another house to be with his fiancee and daughter! Crazy!

We are likely to get married close to home (South Wales) so that family can come easily although we have lots of friends all over because of our forces links but who knows - when we start planning properly we might do something totally random (for us) and run off to some tropical island somewhere with just our dd! :-)

The new lease of life was definitely beginning to emerge before he left ? but now it's eager to develop into full bloom!

Although the blue skies and white sand seem beautiful I honestly believe it will be in wet Wales..lol!

With regards to the meringue... i don't honestly know... because 'im a shorty i don't want anything that will drown me or make me seem even shorter.
