newbie (hi) wanting some dress opinions please

Ditzy Chick, 21 January, 2010 at 22:09 Posted on Planning 0 20

Hi all,

I'm sort of new to hitched (I'm actually divorced, but found this forum really helpful first time round, so had to come back now I'm engaged) and thought I'd introduce myself and ask you all for your valued opinions. I'm Lou (26) and my DP is Dave (30 on Sat!). We have a little boy who's nearly 10 months and we just got engaged on CHristmas Day. We haven't set a date yet, but we probabl wont start our proper planning for another 12 months or so... Doesn't stop me looking for dresses and getting ideas lol ?

What does everyone think honestly to non white/ivory dresses? Do you like this one? (Sorry its only a model picture)

I really like the dress and I know strapless dresses suit me, so I'm not worried about the style, its the colour. I had been toying with the idea of a champaigne/gold coloured dress, but equally like this pink one. Is it too much? I was also thinking about having the colour of my dress as one of the colour themes.

Erm, right I've babbled nonsense there, but if you got what I was trying to ask, then Id be grateful for your opinion

Lou xx

I think the dress is lovely and there are no rules saying the dress has to be ivory.

Welcome (back) to Hitched, and Congratulatons

Congratulations and welcome to hitched (again ?)

I think both the dress and colour are gorgeous, there are no rules to say you have to get married in white/ivory but I would still try all the dresses on anyway...I thought it was fun so I'm trying to get one of my friends to pretend they are getting married so we can go round all the shops again ?

I really love it, its classy & elegant & a bit different, which is the look I went for when I chose my dress. I think its lovely. Pinks not my personal colour choice, I always probably go for champagne maybe, but I think this dress is lovely & if you like the colour I would say go for it! x

It's great, I think brides should wear whatever colour they want to wear! And that looks lovely, no-one would be thinking it wasn't white, they'd be thinking how great it looks Smiley smile

There was someone in Cosmo Bride who was wearing a 'vintage gold' dress, which I thought was lovely, just a touch of colour, but different from white/ivory.

Many congratulation on your recent engagement and of course welcome back to Hitched. I love that dress... its so beautiful and love the colour. There are some beautiful coloured dresses out there so try on lots of different styles in pink and champagne. Ronald Joyce have a lovely range and of course Maggie Sottero do wonderful dresses in many styles in the colour champagne.

Happy dress hunting and general planning! ?

Hello ditzy and welcome back to hitched.

As you can tell from my username I was originally not going to go for white or ivory!

I think that dress is really lovely - maybe a shade too pink for me, but that's as much about my colouring as anything. There are some AMAZING blush dresses out there (sigh, didn't work with the venue I ended up having) and have a look at maggie sottero as some of her's are blush. Also agree that the pale gold shades are stunning too.

I nearly got a really light pink dress so I really like the one you have posted. For me if the dress was pink it would need to be plain like you have choosen otherwise it might be a bit ott but that one is really lovely. I went for a very sparkly champagne/gold dress in the end as I couldn't do without my bling.

    Congratulations and welcome back

Oh wow I love this dress! I'm glad I didnt order it though with my growing bump, I would have been gutted!

Pink is lovely colour, but think about what suits your skin tone x

Thank you all very much for your replies, I think its definately given me the confidence boost to go with my gut instinct for a pale-coloured dress.

I hope to get to return the favour to you all over the coming months ?

I love coloured dresses... just something a bit different. I had a light gold/champagne dress. The dress in the photo is lovely!

I think the colour and style of the dress you like is really nice.

I too came back to hitched after my divorce, I wore a colour first time round but this time I went Ivory as I wanted to look better than last time ?. Although the situation is unfortunate it was great planning another wedding completely different to the first one!

Have a great time on the boards x
