Welcome to Hitched! You will be able to get some great advice on here.

First things are probably setting a budget, and working out rough guest list (for numbers) and looking for a venue which I see you are cracking on with already!

    Congratulations ?

We're looking at August 2016 too. We started by looking at venues first adn working out what sort of day we wanted, and who would be there, so we could work out a rough budget to see if was feasible. That way we could tweak what we needed to fit in with what was realistic. Good luck with the planning, exciting times ?

Congratulations! You must be so excited!

I think working out a budget/guest numbers first is the way forward. THat way you'll know roughly what size venue you need also you'll have an idea of what you can spend. Of course, IMHO it's never to early tos tart looking at dresses!

    Congratulations?

Spreadsheet for working out a budget is a must.

Suppliers, take your time booking any supplier, do your research on them but above all don't let it get you down?

    Hello?

Im new too-got engaged one day after you on christmas day ?

I didnt really have a clue what i was doing or even what i wanted when i started thinking about planning-hoping to tie the knot in march 2016-havnt given ourselves much time but im very inpatient! Hitched has been great-i was starting to get a bit overwhelmed by everything but a few days looking on here really helped! Definatly think about your budget and then start looking at venues-they get booked up so quickly expecially in the summer. Think about roughly how many guests you will have as this may well help on picking a venue in terms of size etc... thats as far as iv got so far but once we make a final decision on the venue im going to crack on with organising the other bits-like catering, bar arrangements and decor etc...soooo exciting though!!!

    Welcome to Hitched Smiley smile

Congratulations on getting engaged- now the fun begins!

My advice would actually be to do some research first, have a look around at products and services you're interested in and make a note of the general costs.

It's really hard to make a realistic budget if you don't have any idea of what the "going rate" is for things like wedding cakes, or photographers.

From there, you can work out how much you are able to save between now and the wedding and see how that compares to the real cost of the products/services you want. You may find that you may have to reign it in a tad as the things you want are a bit more than you're able to save, or you may discover that you have a bit of wiggle room ?

That way, you are able to prioritise from early on and not find yourself in a position where you've spent the budget but still need to book X Y & Z.

Good luck with your planning, we're all here to help if you need it!
