Newbie needs help!

acissej, 16 July, 2013 at 23:06 Posted on Planning 0 6

Hi (: I'm Jess and I'm hopefully getting married next June on a tiny budget, this means lots of DIY.

I'm finding it a bit frustrating at the moment so decided to reach out for some help. I'm trying to decide on my invitations and struggling for ideas so hoping you can help by sharing yours!

Invitations you can find some good bulk deals on e-bay or i'll be using vista print for mine, I've found some nice and reasonable ones on there so will be ordering some soon.

Look forward to hearing more of your ideas Smiley smile x

    Hi Jess

    Congratulations on your engagement.

Don't worry about doing a lot of DIY, it can actually be a lot of fun. A great suggestion that I offer my brides who are on a tight budget when it comes to invitations is to make a arty crafty party for your invite making. Order all your items from a wholesaler (card, craft bits, things like that) then invite your bridesmaids for a fun tea party where everyone helps to make your invites.

It actually helps you all bond and they feel so much more included and you don't need to do everything yourself!

If you are looking for ideas, please visit my FB page, website or register for my monthly newsletter, it is filled with suggestions, tips and ideas.

Best of luck and have an amazing day!

    Idit xx

    Hopefully the 20th Smiley smile

I've looked at vistaprint and the prices seem quite good but haven't found a design I really like.

Think I'm going to be quite indecisive about everything because I don't want to end up spending money on something I end up hating.

Have a look on Ebay. We've ordered a sample from someone on there who is charging 30p per invite (plus postage) which means we can get 50 invites for £15 if we like them. (or 10 of £3, 25 for £7.50 etc.) They are quite simple, but how complicated do they really need to be? Most of them also seem to do matching placecards, table plans etc, if you need those too. I would recommend ordering samples - I'm indecisive too and it helps me to look at them properly rather than just a picture.

Just because you are on a tight budget, does not mean that you have to go without or have a DIY wedding.

If you are worrying about Wedding stationery, it is worth looking on the internet at various stationers websites for prices as you may be surprised. Once you have bought all of your materials etc to create invitations yourself, you are possibly not really much better off than if you got them from a stationers and if you get someone else to do them for you, it frees up more time for you to be planning other wedding elements. Some wedding stationers offer deals (we offer package deals on our site which offer savings which may be of interest to you). Hope this helps!

There are a lot of websites where you can print your own invitations! I really liked a lot of the designs on here when I was looking for a friend:

    https://www.weddingchicks.com/2_free-printables.html

If you do not have a printer, ask a family member to print them, or print them at work, or even buy a really cheap printer! Failing all that, go and chat up your local print and copy place for help!
