Newbie with a tight deadline!

CM2007, 5 February, 2011 at 12:33 Posted on Planning 0 7

Hi

I'm kind of new on here (second marriage so I was on here last time but it has been a while). We have given ourselves 12 weeks to plan a wedding - we're getting married on 30 April. Crazy, I know.

So far we've booked the ceremony and reception venues and ordered the invites. Now I'm overwhelmed by how much I have to do! We're also on a tight budget. It would be far easier to plan a tight deadline wedding if we had the money to make quick decisions.

We're getting married in Hornchurch, Essex but live out by Bishops Stortford/Chelmsford so if anyone knows any good (cheap) suppliers for, well anything, I'd be grateful for the tips!

Wish me luck!

As it's such short notice I'd get your photographer sorted. Fast.

I know I'm biased but it's the one thing a lot of brides leave too late.

Hi CM2007 Smiley smile Do you have a list of things that you feel you want to be prioritised? For example we can supply chair cover hire at short notice but understand these aren't always required and if they are they aren't always a priority!

Don't panic you have plenty of time. Get all the big things organised first , photographer & florist are a must do now. You may find that florists will be busy as April is Easter & Mothers day which are really hectic.

3 weeks?!? I have aaaaages hehehe.

I have a florist sorted (thankfully my two bridesmaids are florists) and should have a photographer sorted by Wednesday. We have the reception and ceremony venue booked. I'm thinking the dresses will be the biggest headache. Especially mine as empire line doesn't suit me which is what most high street stores stock. Oh well, just have to keep looking!

You'll be fine!! Perhaps try a second hand dress store? That way you can try on dresses in your size that you can take away on the day!

My tog showed us an album he shot at our venue where the bride had planned it all in 3 weeks and TBH it looked better than mine that I've been planning for nine months! I think when you have tight deadlines you tend to be a lot more focussed and just get stuff done. Whereas when you have a lot of time you tend to dither!

    Enjoy!!

On the I Do Music website you can search by place, budget and price. I don't know if that's any help to you.

There are some lovely simple wedding stationery ranges in high street shops and favours don't need to be complicated. I think you can order at quite short notice from Thorntons IIRC.
