    Hi and Congratulations!

We got engaged in April 2011 and are getting married in May 2013.

We booked the venue in May 2011, have arranged for a friend to the the photography, but that is about it so far. We looked a about 5 venues and found our perfect one, so didnt see the point in waiting before booking it.

I have been looking at dresses, flowers, decorations, invites etc on the internet, but haven't booked anything else.

I plan on starting dress hunting in April/May time, which will give a couple of months for the search (if necessary) and plenty of time for the ordering.

The H2B wants to start getting involved now we can say 'we are getting married next year' so I imagine other decisions will be made in the next couple of months

I guess everyone is different, but we are planning ahead because we want to buy a house this year, and though if we had the wedding this summer as well we would be over stretching and over stressing!

    Thank you ladies.

I suppose most of us already have a good idea of what we want for our wedding day, just didnt really know when to start actually booking things and so on. Ive joined a few forums, so just having a browse.

Im rather open minded about my dress, so im worried it'll take me forever to chose one ?

A friend of mine has given me a web address of a company just starting out, where you can win your dress!! Ill deffinetly be entering their competition xx

Hi, Congrats, i'm new too, got engaged just before New Years Eve (2011) annnnd been panicking as the girls at work (who have all been recently married) are saying I should be booking something now and trying on dresses and everything. Which is all well and good but you know what it's like, month after Xmas, skint etc...

Me and H2B are planning on an October 2013 wedding, basically because thats near our anniversary and he thought it would be more special. (Cant believe a MAN actually thought about something as sweet as that??!! LOL).

Hopefully we can all be of some support to each other, as I can already see myself getting over-excited and frustrated along the way hahaha!

    Hi. Congratulations on your engagement.

As others have said it is best to book the 'big' things like venue, church and TOG early, especially if you have a specific date in mind.

I started early looking for my dress, but that is only because I wanted to try a fair few on. Most shops I went into said dresses needed to be ordered at least 6 months before, so you have plenty of time to look around.

Keep us posted with how you get on.

    Congratulations on your engagement!

    Another May 2013 bride here.

We only started planning a couple of weeks ago and somehow have managed to so far have the venue, registra, tog and car booked. We are in our defence very decisive people and know what we like / want so booked the only venue we looked at. This was may I add after loads of research and chatting about what sort of wedding we wanted.

Going to look at more dresses today, but I am not so decisive on this sadly so I think choosing 'the one' may take some time lol

Enjoy this planning time, it's all so exciting?

    Hi evry1,

Getting rather excited now. Received an email today from Belle Mariee Bridal with regards to their 'win your wedding dress' competition. Basically with their t+c's, seems like a good deal, if anybody hasnt already bought their dress, have a look at their website -
