NI is part of the UK

Sandysounds, 15 May, 2009 at 12:26 Posted on Planning 0 8

I've just been trawling wedding sites....and discovered a lot of them have got England, Scotland and Wales.....................so whats wrong with NI???????

Then I found some with 'Ireland' listed. NI and the republic are two separate places....even the currency is different!

    Glad I'm not alone.

I have started a bit of a one man crusade on this in that I contact the administrator about it.....and one or two have responded by changing it.

It's so frustrating that postage charges can vary so much for NI & islands off Scotland.

There was a website I was about to purchase a couple of really small (& light) items off a couple of weeks ago - they charged £3.99 for the mainland & £20 for NI & all the islands off Scotland!! Needless to say, I didn't buy the items.

I believe Royal mail costs to NI are the same as the mainland...........so some companies are having a laugh!

When i asked our registrar why we didn't have to register both in coventry and NI she said NI classed as "abroad" so we only need to register in NI. My H2B was fuming!

Postage cost is exactly the same it is also covered by recorded delivery and special delivery. The prices aren't much different for Southern Ireland but if you want signed for it is a big jump.
