Nigella's ham in coke?

Fionka261, 6 June, 2009 at 10:24 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 4

For those of you that have made it..... what did you coat it with before you stuck it in the oven? I'm not going out to try and find cherry jam! Are there any other alternatives?

I have made it before but can't for the life of me think what I did with it!

TIA

You can buy cherry jam in Sainsburys, it's £2.19 a jar.

I've not made the cherry coke version yet but have made the two coke versions (from Bites and HtE, I think)

This one uses cloves, treacle, mustard and demerara sugar - http://www.channel4.com/food/recipes/chefs/nigella-lawson/ham-in-coca-cola-recipe_p_1.html

I use golden syrup and mustard powder, and stud with clove if I can be bothered. Sometimes I don't even bother with the roasing bit though ?

I have never got as far as roasting it, it never gets that far.

The cherry coke version hasn't got the smokiness of the normal coke version

I like it straight from the pot too Lois. I'm not a mustard fan so the crusts don't really float my boat. I cut that bit off my portion when it's been in the oven.
