NIGHTMARE Bridesmaids!!!

LuxuriousOrangeCars211, 21 January, 2018 at 14:03 Posted on Planning 0 5

Hi,

So we purchased all the bridesmaids dresses. Bridesmaids love them. They fit perfectly! All 4 of them.

Fast forward quite a few months.....2 bridesmaids (grooms sisters) wish to try their dresses on again.

No problem! I deliver them to the ladies and later that night get bombarded with messages!

'They dont fit'

The ladies have gained so much weight that neither dresses fit. I have suggested getting bigger sizes as I would like all 4 Bridesmaids in the same dress. (and saying go on a diet just seems a tad harsh to say).

The ladies are having none of it and have told me they want different dresses as these don't flatter there figures!!!

Little background on the dress...its a lace top, straight down chiffon gown. It does not cling. To be completely honest we decided on these dresses as it didn't suit 1 more than the other or make any of them look horrible. It sits the same on all bridesmaids!

Help!!! WHAT DO I DO?

They loved them 1st time and fit fine.

    Hi

Sorry to hear you're having a nightmare with your bridesmaids.

Have you asked them why they've had a sudden change of heart about the gowns? Has anything else happened that would make them want to make this difficult for you?

Id tell them that those are the dresses you have chosen and you are happy to change the size but not the actual dress.

I think that's more than fair!

    Good luck! x

Would you even still be able to swap the size? If it's any additional cost to you, then tell them to sort it out themselves!

Do you have a picture of the dresses? If you order a size that would allow them to wear shapewear underneath?

I'd refuse on the different dresses, two of my bridesmaids don't fit in theirs either but we are ordering the same dresses just bigger regardless of anyone's opinions, I paid for it, they're wearing what they're given. Although none of my BM's have a problem with that, good luck.

Sorry to hear this has happened to you :-(

If you could afford it, offering to get the next size up seems like a great idea, very generous and kind too. I would not personally entertain changing the styles; they already agreed to it and said they liked them. You've got to draw the line somewhere and you have a wedding to plan.

Forgive me for playing devil's advocate but sometimes sisters collude on things. I should know, I am one.

And it's very mean and maybe unhelpful of me to say it but I really would not be impressed if my bridesmaids managed to gain so much weight that both the fit and the cut of the dress was suddenly a problem. I like the suggestion of shapewear. I like the suggestion of bootcamp even better but not sure that would go down very well lol! ?

    Hi

Thank you everyone for your replies!

I have stood my ground, the only option being a bigger size. Ive left it up to them to order them (and pay as its not my fault they dont fit anymore).

And the flower girls have matching mini dresses, a different style is out of the question!!
