No Compromise

LWUK, 27 May, 2012 at 19:43 Posted on Planning 0 11

Let pretty much everyone I've compromised on a lot for my wedding but the one thing I wouldn't is going to a dress shop and choosing a new dress. My mum was constantly trying to convince me just to rent a dress for the day or look at getting a second hand dress but I have always dreamed of having the fuss of going to the shops, having the fittings and everything. Don't get me wrong I didn't Bridezilla-out about it, I just politely refused and just stuck to my budget.

So what's the one thing you didn't want to compromise on?

Guests. My parents couldn't understand why we wanted to invite all our friends when we could just have a few family members and keep the costs down. To us it wouldn't be the wedding we want if we didn't haveour friends there to celebrate with.

Colours, tradition, guests. Compromises just have to be done as there are so many people involved.

If I was 15 years younger then I would say my venue, it's not quite my dream venue but as an older bride it was more important for us to be husband and wife and have the people we want around us than a big venue. It will be a great day and I do love the hotel venue we have but if I was in my 20's then I would have had to have had my castle on the Devon/Cornwall boarder. We could have still gone but only had a minimum number of people, so we are hoping to go there as a mini moon instead.

I am rubbish at compromising! I have found that I am ok (ish) at making sacrfices to get what I really want (we have saved steadily to pay for the wedding, over a two year period, which for two people who have never bothered to save a penny, is no mean feat!).

What would I not compromise on...a Church wedding. A civil ceremony would not mean anything to me; I absolutely must be married in front of God.

Well, my parents are divorced and my dad hates my mum's husband, who owns a really nice car. We wanted to use it for the wedding so we dont have to spend money on transportation. Well my dad is soooo freaking stuck up that he was creating issue's about us using that car. So we decided to hire one (we are getting my dad to pay for it though as we shouldnt have to pay when we already have a free car). Other than that, we are NOT compromising with anything else, no chance. Not gonna make a fuss about a car, but I don't think we would compromise with anything else!

This - only thing that was a MUST for OH and I.

We are inviting a bunch of family we arent bothered about to keep the peace, but nothing would have swayed us from a church wedding.

Id day its the length of our event. we get wed at 3.30 so we are just having an evening reception but if money had been easier to come by I would have got married at 1 and had a whole day do. We are also marrying in reg office which is absolutely fine by me but if we could have afforded a hotel or something we would have done so purely to be able to invite more people to watch us marry as we can only have 28 at the cermony x

Me and my OH wont compromise on guests (only with eachother)

I got asked to invite my OH's aunties, cousins and give them all plus ones. They don't bother with my OH much and when they do they're pretty rude, and they make sure I'm not invited to anything to do with them,

Nice small wedding with the people that love us Smiley smile x
