No idea where to go?!!!!

Future Mrs Chuckles, 3 April, 2012 at 22:30 Posted on Honeymoons & Getting Married Abroad 0 9

Hi girls,

I'm getting married on June 23rd - and my fiance and I STILL cannot decide where to have our honeymoon!!

We have one month off work so hoping to really make the most of the time - maybe start somewhere luxurious and then do a little backpacking.

We are not interested in the maldives and also don't have the budget for it.

We like to relax but have the option of doing things as we would get bored.

Ideas please!!

    Thailand!

Really easy to travel around and is ideal for a mix of sightseeing, activities and lazing on the beach!

You could start off in Bangkok, head up to Chiang Mai to the jungle or Khao Sok to the national park and then tag on some island hopping at the end.

Multi center deffo sounds like they way you want to be going. Any travel agent can put together what you want, it's not all about what's in the brochure. Im exactly the same I can sit for a while by the pool but my other half also has the attention span of a toddler haha. Just some ideas

Nile cruise and stay - loads of places to go and see and a second week to chill out ifyou want but theres still stuff to do should you get bored.

A cruise - chill out in the day or go sight seeing in whatever place your in tht day everyday is different and you could tick off a few places on one holiday.

Turkey? Pick the right place which places of interest and you can do a few days on a gullet boat.

    Island hop in greece

Do Thailand stop a few nights in bangkok and head over to the beaches.

Do a fly drive in America

You could buy a rail pass and travel round Europe for 2 weeks - month it gives unlimited travel across the continent.

Its probably more about picking the right place close enough to the action but not too far out rather than something totally different. Your cutting it fine though you'll be looking at full payment so I don't know if that has an impact on budget. Availability is gonna start going too soon. I was pretty undecided too so booked a mini moon and were going on a big one next year.

1 month??? excellent ! I would definitely agree with the above post about the Nile cruise...you could also visit Alexandria and Jordan. You could find a luxurious hotel in Cairo,Luxor or the Red sea riviera to chill out? I personally would do the backpacking first and end up in the luxurious one,so you could chill before coming home. These areas will all be a lot cheaper because of no dreaded Euro! I would avoid anywhere further afield due to monsoon/hurricane seasons in other countries. Or you could go island hopping in Greece ? Let us know what you decide on :-)

    Hi there futue Mrs Chuckes!

We are much in the same boat as yourself, although we are not getting married until next year?

Have you considered Australia? with a month off work it would be the perfect opportunity to go long haul, although OZ maybe a little chilly in June as their seasons are opposite to ours.

We are considering Oz next Nov for our honeymoon - a few nights in Sydney at a nice hotel and then hiring a motorhome and doing some travelling around off the beaten track - you can hire motorhomes out there for a number of days at relatively cheap and also you can get a motorhome to suit your budget and requirments ie, a big luxurious one or something smaller and more economical :-)

    xx

Thanks so much for your advice Smiley smile

I can't believe we have a month off, yet we can't decide!? I think we are spoilt for choice to be honest.

We initially wanted to do Thailand/S.E Asia but last month a girl I grew up with died from a virus she contracted in Vietnam - suddenly it doesn't feel right to go (just yet).

If I go to Australia, I won't be able to come back :p I love it and plan to go back on a 3 month visa in a few years.

    OH isn't keen on africa.

We have been to trailfinders and they can't seem to help us narrow it down.

I know, we are a nightmare!

Wow a whole month.................... so many places..........Africa is great - try persuading OH - you could spend some time in Cape Town and doing the whole wine route thing then heading up into Botswana (safari and No 1 Ladies Detective Agency) and then over to Vic Falls.......

Alternatively - New Zealand and one of the islands - Samoa/Fiji? Europe road trip, US road trip, India and Sri Lanka.........

Sorry not very original ideas - maybe have a look at www.responsibletravel.com for some ideas.

    Hi

We went away for 7 weeks at the start of the year (I'd been made redundant) and that's when we got engaged :-)

We travelled around Amwerica we wnt to New York, then on the train to Washington DC, then back on the train to Miami, then to Fort Lauderdale, then flew to San Diego, train to LA, flew to Hawaii, Hawaiian cruise, flew to San Francisco, then flew to Vegas.

You could go to California and hire a car if you start in Southern California you can even go over to Mexico, there's loads to do in California and you could fly over to Hawaii and go on an Hawaiian cruise, it's run by Norweigen Cruise Lines and goes to really beautiful places, you could also easily get to the Grand Canyon from California, you could have a couple of nights there and a couple of night in Vegas.

We booked all our trip with Trailfinders and changed things round a couple of times before we finalised everything. Wherever you go I'm sure you'll have an amazing time. As an indication our trip cost about £3500 each that included flights, hotels, cruise, train travel and flights. xx

If it was me, which I wish it was you lucky thing! I'd do a tour of America. Rachalan's trip sounds incredible and just like a dream.

A trip around Europe also sounds nice, or around the islands in Greece. Not too expensive either.

I went to Oz in June, unless you go to a southern city (Sydney, Melbourne etc) you'll be fine. I went north in June and the temperature reached a whopping 37 degrees C on one day! Basically the top half of the country never gets cold and the wildlife is AWESOME!

Have a great honeymoon wherever you go!
