So, that is it - Our wedding is now booked forFriday 29th May 2015 - it'll less than a year by the end of next week! Woahh! Sooo excited.
    Church is booked, 3pm.
Reception venue is booked, welcome drinks followed by champagne afternoon tea and some background music whilst we mingle and enjoy celebrating with the people very closest to us (approx 34 guests, including ourselves and our daughter).
We then plan to be traditionally seen off that evening, head to a hotel at the airport ready to fly to Las Vegas the following day for our honeymoon.
I need to crack on with my weight loss now, when should I seriously start looking at dresses? Would September be a reasonable time to start shopping? I can probably drop a dress size or two by then!
I asked my four best friends to be bridesmaids a few months back, I think I'll write them all a card, explaining how when we initially planned the BIG day with 70-80 guests, they were (without a doubt) my only choice for bridesmaids, however, now that we have scaled our day down so dramatically, I hate to take the honour away from them, but it is not realistic to have so many bridesmaids, therefore, I will want my best friends to join us to celebrate but I will only be having my daughter and goddaughter as 'little' bridesmaids - I know this sounds dreadful...I went to such efforts to put 'Will you be my bridesmaid?' boxes together, but I think they're good enough friends to understand (although they will no doubt be a little disappointed), I will express how the importance of the day is of course not how big the event is but it's that me and OH get married and enjoy our day. Any suggestions on how to write this will be taken on board - thank you :-)
So, that's it...all systems go, go, go. We need to find a photographer, or negotiate a better deal (since it is a shorter day) with the photographer we liked. We need to order a cake, book the honeymoon, organise my bouquet and OHs button hole, buy our wedding rings...ahh, lots to think about now.
Eeeeek. I need to find the 2015 brides thread and get added on, oh, and I need to change my signature on here as obviously the wedding date is currently wrong.

    It's all coming together!!

I take it that your original grown-up bridesmaids will still be invited to your wedding - if so, they will still have their roles and uses that your little bridesmaids cannot fulfil. I'm thinking things like your hen-do and helping with hair and make up? If so, then you can say that although having a great big bridal party presence is no longer relevant due to the scaling back and bringing forward, you hope that they will still help with all the other stuff that they would have done before, and are no less a part of your day just because they're not all wearing the same dress and walking behind you down the aisle.

As for dress shopping - it is not too early to start now....many dress shops say that they need 6 months plus to order a dress in, then the time for alterations etc on top. No harm in at least looking and getting short lists of styles. Even if you are intending dropping a dress size, a good dress shop will be able to work out what suits your shape and can advise accordingly to take into account potential weight loss too.

    Enjoy!!!

Great suggestion Kimiu. They're most definitely still invited, and you're right, I can still ask them to be involved in other ways, only I feel like they might think that's a little selfish, I mean, they're my best friends, they probably wont think that at all, but I guess I feel a little bad that I'm taking the honour away but for example still saying, can you help with my hen do, and my makeup etc, lol - Irrational thoughts that I am sure I don't need to worry about really - this is what we want, the small day is what we want - hell, my hen party will probably be bigger than my wedding, haha!

Thanks for the congratulations and support, I think I'm going to be much more active on this forum now.

I don't feel at all ready to start dress shopping!! Eeeek.

    Awww congratulations Smiley smile

I went to look in bridal shops with my friend the other day who is getting married in June and she was told she has around 4 months to find a dress and should have one ordered by September! She wanted to lose weight before she started trying on dresses but they said they can alter them by 4 dress sizes, so she could start looking now.

Hope this helps a bit and good luck with all the planning xxx

The bridesmaids that we're took the news brilliantly, why did I ever have any doubt? They're by best friends.

Now, when do you think I should look at sending our invites out? The wedding is on a Friday (in May) so people will need to take annual leave. X

Deposit paid to our photographer and for our wedding car.

Church and venue deposits already paid. Dress appointment booked. Friend is a MUA and she has said she'd be honoured to do my makeup and my 2 young bridesmaids hair. I still need to arrange a hairdresser for myself, actually find a wedding dress, order our wedding rings, find bridesmaids dresses (won't be looking at that until the new year), flowers to be sorted, oh and a wedding cake and honeymoon.....and grooms suit...anything else I'm missing there? I felt like I had a bit of catching up to do with you other 2015 brides!

Decided on my invites, found something I liked on Pinterest and a friend & I are replicating those.

    It's a year today!! xx
