Nonsuch manor - anyone got experience??

amelinda, 23 June, 2011 at 15:30 Posted on Planning 0 3

Hi all!

Newly engaged, in the overly-excited phase. Not entirely sure of date yet - Nov 2012 or Mar 2013 (Mar 2012 if I can persuade OH for a few months of really hard saving rather than longer time of saving less each month!!).

I was looking at Nonsuch Manor in Surrey, and I wondered if anyone was getting/has been married there? They seem to fit our needs, but I was hoping to get some reviews before we do anything serious with money... (date tbc in the next week or so I hope!).

Thanks for any suggestions and comments!

Do you mean Nonsuch Mansion? If so, gorgeous venue!!

A friend of my mums got married here a few years ago, and it was lovely. They had the ceremony in the Rose room and then the reception in the Orchid room. Its fantastic venue with great gardens for pictures.

Thanks for getting back so quickly!

Ah, it's a relief that the first thing I heard about it wasnt negative Smiley smile we're looking for somewhere which has a country mansion feel without being too far from home - plan to do things like first night accomodation being our own flat down the road!! it seems really lovely there, but I just wanted to hear from others who had experienced either a wedding there or were planning one there too.

It is so beautiful, isn't it? My friend is doing the photography, she's fab, and knows how to get the most out of locations etc so I'm hoping excellent photos could be had from the day too.

    Thanks!

We nearly went for Nonsuch Mansion, but opted for Oaks Farm in Shirley in the end because they offered a bit more flexibility and we very much want to do things our way rather than go for a package wedding. Went there a few months back and had a bit of venue envy though as it is really lovely.

Whereabouts do you live? I'm in Sutton ?

I've got my first wedding to cover there in a few weeks.

From what I've noticed so far a very tightly run ship. Only the best people are suppliers there and all have very high standards.

The decor is great and very individual to every room. I think it's a wise choice for a venue plus there's loads of places for nice photos.
