Can I ask who people have chosen to do their hair?? The girl I wanted is unfortunately booked up on my date and I'm really struggling to find anyone else who looks as good, especially in this area and to have someone travel works out really expensive ? it is the one thing (up to now) which is really stressing me out! Thanks! xxx

Sorry I can't help but I'll be keeping an eye on this thread for any replies. I haven't booked yet as I have emailed 4 different stylists and they are all too expensive. The cheapest quote I've had is £200 just for the bride! This is hair and makeup and includes a trial and travel costs but to me that is a lot of money to pay.

I am using someone called Stephanie Gayle, she is on facebook and i get my makeup trial on Tuesday with her. She is highly recommended and her work is fab, does hair and makeup. Also someone called Louise Richards in the North East. I will find the links on facebook and post below for you x

That was another point, so expensive! When Im already going to be buying new extensions ect. by the time I get my extensions, get them put in, all coloured, and then styled, and then make-up on top of that I think I'd rather go and spend the equivalent on new makeup thats for me and I know Im going to like.

I think Ill go to the MAC or Benefit counter and just get random make overs done until the day and just keep seeing which products I like, see how they do and it go from there. Im having a bit of what I like to call an indoor hen do, one of my bridesmaids who is his neice, is only 11 so I will be staying in and doing girly things with her one night so can play about with make-up then!

Hi, I live in Darlington and used my local hairdresser. For me and my four BM's he charged us £175 and then an extra £15 for the petrol from Darlington to Saltburn.

He did an amazing job and I had two trials previously. (these weren't included in the price) I had some extensions which I bought through him (for volume not length) for £70, about the same as what I'd have paid in town and they're all human hair.

Good luck finding your hairdresser. Mine was amazing! xx

Thank you for the links, going to have a nosy, it's really hard to choose so it definitely helps when someone is recommended!

I think I am going to do my own make-up too, as like you said it means you can spend that money on nice products instead Smiley smile x

I'm in Newcastle. With make up I can recommend popping into Boots and having a mooch around. I've ended up getting all of my make up in there (doing it myself) and most of the counters will do your make up so you can get an idea of colours etc before you buy. Worked out miles cheaper than a make up artist and I get to keep all the make up too. Quite a few throw free samples of stuff in too if you tell them it's for your wedding.

Is she doing your hair and make up?? I'm still undecided about having someone do my make up ? x

Ah thats such a shame as i was telling her yesterday that i had recommended her but she said she is so busy this year and nearly all next year.

She is great and i am so happy with her. Got bad skin and react a lot to certain makeup but she made me look like i had flawless skin and i loved it, didnt want to take it off at night. I cant wait now for October. She is only doing my makeup as my partners aunts are hairdressers so letting them do my hair but deep down i wish she was doing all of it now :-)

Aww that's great, glad you're all sorted with it now, I think once you get your trial out of the way and are happy with it you can start getting more excited! I wish she was still available, it's insane how early people get booked up I had no idea it would be so difficult.

''I go by many names'' - That's really annoying, so what's you next step now? Stephanie also recommended Maximillion Make up & Hair? I've not had chance to have a good look yet but you could maybe try her? x

I have emailed her and she is free and has quite reasonable prices but I'm reluctant to book her just because I can't seem to find any reviews or testimonials and she doesn't have a website. I have also made enquiries with 'Wedding Hair and Makeup North East,' which I may book simply because she's so cheap and gets good reviews but again she has no website, just a facebook group. I like her pictures though and she has promised to send me some more of brides that have gone for a similar style to what I want. So I'll see what she sends me and then I might book then.

Exactly the same situation as me, I'm definitely swaying more towards 'Wedding hair and Makeup North East'. I have also just emailed http://www.ndmakeupartists.co.uk/#home however judging by their website I think they will be a lot pricier!

Jessie- yes I did look at nd however as you say they seem higher end and I just can't justify spending more than £200 on hair and mu. Plus I'd like someone or at least a team that can do both as I can't be bothered with the faff of booking 2 separate people. As far as I'm aware nd are just mu not hair.

Think I will book 'wedding hair and makeup north east' lady as she has been very good at responding to my queries and she is very reasonably priced compared to others.

Next topic- togs! Who have you booked? We are having Jamie penfold, I love his photos!

I agree with you there, especially as I want to pay for my bridesmaids hair too! I think ND definitely do both but with two separate people rather than one person who can do both. Yes she seems really good and professional, if you do go ahead with them let us know how your trial goes etc. I am just waiting to hear back from them with a quote so hopefully it will be within my budget and I can get them booked too!

Ooo hadn't heard of him but just had a quick google and he looks fab, very quirky! We are having a couple (man and a woman) they're called Merlin Photography, they're just starting out doing weddings and the guy is a friend of my FMIL so they are giving us a discounted price and also as they are just starting out it is good for their portfolio too. I was/still am a little nervous as they don't have as much experience as some photographers but we went along to their studio and they showed us a few weddings they have done and their photos we're great and they're such a lovely couple, easy to get on with so we just went for it!

Do you still have much left to organise? x

Well I decided to book 'wedding hair and makeup north east' lady and have paid the deposit.

Jessie- still feel like we have loads to do! Need to give notice and actually book the wedding (we're doing no frills legal ceremony the day before then a humanist ceremony on the day), oh needs his outfit, need outfits for BMs and ushers, need to make invitations, wedding website and we are making all the decs ourselves too.
