Sorry I know its crap when people don't respond to a request but we never considered doing our own catering and have gone for quite an expensive venue so I'm not sure I can help. Hope you have had some joy since you posted.
I'm a north east bride! Getting married at st mary's lighthouse in whitley bay, fish and chips on north shields fish quay and then reception in the berkeley taven in whitley because its where we met, had our engagement and had our little boys christening party.
HellandGlory st Mary's lighthouse is lovely! I take my reception class on a trip there every summer. Fish and chips sounds like an awesome wedding food aswell! Have you got everything booked up now? X
Ouseburn (between manors and byker) isnt too far away, and there are tonnes of quirky, good food and drink places there. galleries, bars and a farm! (lol, ok so maybe not the farm...). gorgeous views and a really fun area with a friendly non-stella vibe.
Hellandglory that sounds like an amazing plan for your wedding! I shot a wedding at St Mary's Lighthouse last year with two brides, it was really laid back -sounds a bit like the vibe you're going for If you want a look here it is
One of the brides exclaimed "There's a seal" during the ceremony as she could see one out of the window, the room that the ceremonies take place there is lovely- amazing views!!
TynesideTink - Hopefully you've found somewhere now but I HIGHLY recommend Summerhill Bowling Club which is near to the city centre (but feels very tucked away and private!) It's a village hall type place and you can sort your own catering. It's light any airy and has a little stage there.
If you want to have a look at some photos from that venue here's a link to my blog. The couple did an amazing job at decorating it all!
I love it just wish the rooms were a bit less expensive, feeling a bit guilty about that for my guests! Random question... Are you having chair covers?
I know, exactly how we are feeling too!! I wish we had taken into consideration the cost of the rooms for our guests when choosing the venue but it just felt like the one straight away and we didn't think twice about it... oops! As much as we really wanted as many friends to stay over we understand it's a lot to pay so we are mainly just having family stay over Fri/Sat and then most of our guests have booked into the local B&B's.
Yesssss, i'm really not keen on the chairs at all, having said that I'm not a fan of chair covers either lol but we are going for covers with a lace bow I think. How about you? x
I think I'm going to try and block book some rooms at local b&bs as well. I know what you mean, we had already decided before looking around that something would have to be really wrong to not choose there
the chair covers - I never thought I would be a chair cover kind of girl but I think I'm going to have to! Did you go with the one from the brochure? I was told if I want them they pretty much have to be from there. I have over a year to get all this stuff sorted though. I'm getting a bit carried away! Excited to have a venue buddy though
Good idea, the B&Bs also provide transport to the venue and early check in for guests... being so close to Langley I think they're very popular with weddings.
Honestly it's never to early to start... we've been planning for just over a year and there's still sooo much to decide on, the time really flies by. We are getting our chair covers from Fleur Courture - the same place as our flowers and centrepieces. That's strange as that definitely wasn't mentioned, I asked about hiring our own chairs at one point which they said would be fine aslong as they were picked up the next morning by 11am but we decided against it as felt like a lot of hassle and extra costs when no one really notices the chairs ha!
Do you know what time you are getting married yet? x
We are getting married at 2... We got a whole spiel about that as well haha. How about you? I'm so excited already! Just wish I didn't have a year to wait x
