Northwest Brides

Mrs2013, 20 March, 2012 at 09:12 Posted on Planning 0 83

I just wondered if there are any Northwest brides on here and where and when you are getting married or got married?

Any reccomendations on suppliers etc? I just like getting ideas and help from other brides ?

Which venue have you decided on?

Our venue provides all food and drink, and we're DIYing a lot of the stuff ourselves so I can't vouch for many suppliers I'm afraid - I know a good DJ for Manchester and our photographer is lovely though if you're interested.

    Where abouts are you based?

We've not picked our venue yet, we're looking at the moment but I had some good suggestions on a previous thread. I don't have any other suppliers yet although I have started trying on dresses!

    I'm in Liverpool!

I'm getting married in Italy so can't help with venues and I'm still looking for a venue for the party when we get back and looking for a good live band too.

I'll be going to Copplestone's for my dress.

I'm a pastry chef and I'll be making my own cake.

The white closet( amazing) and cheshire bridal wear are good for dresses.

The flower lounge in Didsbury are supposed to be good for flowers.

Silver apples or airy fairy cupcakes are good for wedding cakes.

Claire Louise mobile beauty for your hair and makeup!

I'm a NW bride, just outside of Warrington so used a lot of local suppliers. Karl Welsh for the flowers Michelle Holburn for our makeup (amazing) Chair angels are our venue dresser My bridesmaids dresses came from Debenhams in the end ( they did originally come froma Bridal shop but they had to be scraped 3 days before-so wouldnt recommend them) a And our photographer is from holmes chapel. Our wedding reception is at Mere Golf club

    Hi Thanks!
We are not wanting to travel more than 1 hour outside Stockport/Cheadle Hulme/Manchester, we are looking for somewhere that can hold 80 for a sit down meal followed by an evening for 150 people....We have viewed loadsss and also ruled out a few on price! we are not looking for a particular 'type' of venue and are flexible in style etc but we do want a saturday wedding in a summer month which is proving expensive!! we have a budget of between £5,000-£6,000 for venue hire, food and drink!

we have looked at or been to weddings at the following and ruled on on either style or price etc:

. Hollin Hall (our fave up to now but reviews aren't v.good which is putting us off!!)
. Peruga (may have another look at)
    . Quarry Bank Mill
    . Statham Lodge
    . Stock Restaurant
. High Leigh Country Park Golf Club
    . Belle Epoque
    . The Duke of Portland
    . Heaton House Farm
    . Hilltop Country House
    . Sandhole Oak Barn
    . Stannylands Hotel
    . The Deanwater
    . The Village Hotel Cheadle
    . Cheadle House - Devere
    . The Bowdon Rooms
    . Hyde Bank Farm
    . Castlefield Rooms
    . Wincham Hall Hotel
    . Bridge Hotel

Others that we haven't been to but ruled out on price/look/capacity etc

    . Shrigley Hall
    . Arley Hall and Gardens
    . Bolton School of Arts
    . Capesthorne Pavillion
    . Chancellors Hotel
    . Cottons Hotel and Spa
    . Manchester Art Gallery
    . Mere Court Hotel
    . Ridgmont House
    . Thornton Manor
    . Marriott Worsley Park
    . Alderley Edge Hotel
    . Cranage Hall
    . Egerton House
. Mere Golf and Country Club
    . The Place Hotel (Manchester)
    . Whitworth Art Gallery
    . Rivington Hall Barn
    . Styal Lodge
    . The Ashes
    . The Sadleworth Hotel
    . Trafford Hall
    . Peckforton Castle

and some we still may have to look at:

    . The Yellow Broom Restaurant
. Adlington Hall and the Hunting Lodge
    . The Hallmark Hotel
    . Davenport Green Hall
    . Peover Golf Club

Arghhh its driving me nuts!! i feel like we have looked at every possibility!! Smiley sad if you have any suggestions please do! x

I'm from Liverpool! I'm a stationery supplier, studio based in Crosby.

I was actually at the West Tower open evenings a few weeks ago but do loads of wedding shows in the Liverpool/Southport area. I'm next at The Pines in Chorley.

For our stationary we are using an online company, Wickedly Innocent, who have been FAB, can't praise them enough. Flowers also online, Silk Blooms, again brilliant.

Cake lady and also doing chocolate favours - Creative Cakes, in Warrington.

Make up lady - Kerry Baker, based in Preston but travels, her images look great and she seems very friendly. She was luckily available after my previous MUA cancelled.

Caterers - JKL Catering in Sandbach, a lovely lady who has many awards for her food.

Venue - Heaton House Farm in Macclesfield, excellent service so far. Provide all decor to match my colours and DJ for disco. Only gripe is they have charged our guests already for the 6 bedrooms and breakfast!

Dress - Pronuptia in Manchester, great service and lovely welcoming ladies.

Suits - Swarbricks near Middleton, excellent range and great quality with good discounts.

Entertainment - piano during wedding breakfast - Ed Alexander based in Liverpool but travels, sounds good and the best value we could find.

We looked at Adlington Hunting Lodge and really liked it. Don't think I'd go to Davenport Green Hall. Farrrrr too many problems with noise restrictions and planning permission rows. What about the Joshua Bradley pub & restaurant near Hyde (or the Bluebell next door)? Not very formal but I liked it and it's very reasonably priced.

I lived/work in Leeds but grew up in Preston.

I am getting married at the Dunkenhalgh. I have booked Christopher Devereaux as my tog, Happy Days of Whalley as my Vog and Venue dresser.

Need to book Make up By Claire as my make up artist as met her at a wedding fayre and loved her personality. Flowers are to be ordered but are with Bridal Blooms.

Mens suits Greenwoods. My dress is from Berketex Leeds but having it altered/customised by a lovely dressmaker in Leeds.

    Think that covers all suppliers?

I've just today received a really competitive quote for several items from http://www.abstractentertainments.co.uk they appear to offer a one stop shop for what I need for entertainment, I'm getting married in Kendal but they also cover a wide area, so worth a look.

I've not booked them yet as I'm still collecting quotes, so if anyone has used them I'd be interested to hear your opinions on their service etc.

    Regards

    L x

Saddleworth is out of our price range im afraid and not tried clough manor, il have a quick look in a min thanks!! and etrop looks nice but my dad went to a xmas do there and said the food was blinking awful which put me off looking! and i have been to look at the monastry and it is lovely inside but im afraid i couldn't get passed what was outside (as horrible as that sounds) it just felt like a beautiful venue dumped in the middle of the shameless chatsworth estate (sorry if i offend anyone!) i think it is perfect for a winter wedding where you want to stay inside but as we want outside space it just wasn't right....also its massive!! i don't think i have enough people or money to fill it!!

    Thanks x
