Sorry, I've not been to a wedding there but we considered it for our wedding. It's a gorgeous place.

    Hi Gemma

I went to a wedding there about 8 years ago. It was gorgeous. The Gallery room is beautiful & I remember the food & service were all excellent. It was a warm summers day & the only bad point was that guests were bothered by wasps trying to get to our Pimms / bucks Fizz at the drinks reception after the ceremony. ?

    Hope this helps

    Hi Char,

Sorry it's taken me so long to reply to you, I've not been online! Smiley smile Nope we didn't have a bespoke package we've only hired the venue and food. Have you had a package?

Did you look at many venues before choosing Norwood?

Oo thanks, it's always nice to hear positive reviews Smiley smile

I'll prepare myself for the wasps, I'm usually one of those crazy people who run around flapping so hopefully I'll be more composed on the day! Smiley smile

    Hi Snowberry,

Are you getting married in church or the venue?

Have you gone with Doug Plews?

    Hi Gemkims and Snowberry,

We've gone for Doug Plews, I'm sure which one the other person was talking about but we really liked what we saw in his albums. We met with him a few months ago and he was great - completely understood what we wanted to get from our photos and was really great when we said we didn't want to stand around for ages for posed photos.

We have gone for a package - the Sir John. Couple of hiccups but nothing major. What food have you gone for Gemkins? What about you Snowberry?

That's who the venue recommended to us, we've been looking at a man called Jon Rouston who lives in Hucknall but haven't got as far as to book anything yet (I feel like I'm being so indecisive about things!)

We haven't definitely confirmed the food but my H2B is quite picky so I think it'll be along the lines of melon/berries etc for starter, Roast beef dinner for our main and I'm hoping they can do Eton mess for dessert (my input!). How about you?

How many guests are you having?

Well you've got some time yet and if you're going to be picky about anything that should be it!

Well...our menu is a bit different. Norwood have been so accommodating. We'd always had this idea about having his and hers menus! H2B menu is nachos to start and homemade burger for main (best he's ever had he told me after the tasting!) and mine is goats cheese and asapargus to start, followed by lasagne - all our fav dishes. Our pudding is...Eton Mess! It's my absolute favourite. H2B originally had banoffee but it was too much after the burger. We've sent our invites out with a menu selector on so guests have to pick 'his' or 'hers'.

We've got 100 during the day and about an extra 20 at night. What about you?

Wow that is such a good idea Smiley smile Both menus sound yummy!

We're having 70 (maybe a few more- haven't finalised the numbers with Norwood yet) and around 120 in the evening. I can't wait to get my Save the Dates sent out!

What colour scheme are you having? How are you dressing the room...flowers etc?

Ah thank you - we love it!

So exciting - we're only 80 days away now! Colour scheme is choc brown. Invites and save the dates had it on, and bm's are in it. Have the most brilliant lady making the dresses for them - 4 bridesmaids in 3 different styles!

We're having tall vases for the centre piece (lillys), and a long and low on the top table. It's the florist included in the package - we've put some extra to it though. Candles - a - plenty too, and we're going to put something at the windows.

We were really pleased with Vista print for our save the dates, if you haven't sorted something then I'd say they were really good and great value.

Aww it sounds like it's going to be a beautiful day! Smiley smile

I think the tall vases are ideal for the reception room as the ceiling is so high and the room needs that extra something! I'm hoping to find some tall candelabras for our tables! Smiley smile

Ooo thanks for the tip- we're having our stationery made by a lady we found on here Smiley smile Just need to confirm numbers to get it all ordered!

Are you getting married at the venue or at a church?

Is there anything you have left to do?

I hope so - super giddy!

Oh lovely, we found someone to make the invites through someone I work with and I can't tell you how exciting it was to send out the invites and get our first RSVP back!

Getting married at St Mary's in Newark. I live in Leeds now but I was christened there and loads of my family are still there. What about you?

Nothing major now, I'm waiting for my dress fitting and just sorting out a hairdresser but then think it's all done!

I can't imagine how exciting it must feel to be as close to the wedding as you! Smiley smile I bet you're ticking off the days!!

Aww that's nice that you have some history with the church! We're getting married at St Peter's in Thurgarton.

Did you have to try on lots of dresses before you found the one? Are you wearing you're hair up or down?

Where are you going on honeymoon?

    xx

I tried on quite a few, lots of different styles and I ended up with something completely opposite to what I thought! Hair is going up - nothing too over the top as don't want to look really different, but equally want to feel special! Having a lady doing my make up too - Laura Harrison. I found her through here.

Florida - 12 nights at Disney and 6 in Sarasota. It's been a long time coming so really can't wait!

Have you thought where you want to go? Have you looked at dresses yet?

Aww I have no idea what dress I want I'm just hoping I find one I love! Smiley smile Is Laura doing all of your bridal party?

Florida sounds fab! I've always wanted to got to America! Have you ever been before?

We're thinking of maybe having a mini moon straight after the wedding but not sure where as we really want to go to Australia in the Dec which will be 6 months after the wedding. My H2B's cousin lives just outside of Sydney so hopefully we'll stay with her for a few nights too over Xmas Smiley smile

You'll have to post some pics after the wedding I'd love to see how it all looks on the day! Smiley smile

I absolutely love Norwood, it's my second favourite venue. I've got a wedding there this Sunday and then a couple in August. I like the fact that the staff there go out of the way to help you, they're pretty relaxed about what you can do there too. It's got a nice homely feel about it. The staircase is fab for making a grand entrance and I've never heard anything bad about it.

We are having the ceremony at Norwood, going to pay the deposit tomorrow! I love the his and hers menu ideas, may have to steal that!

We have spoken to Doug but not booked yet, might have another look around.
