Not wearing wedding make up?

unexpectedpenny, 21 April, 2012 at 14:49 Posted on Planning 0 15

Hi!

Been lurking around this site for a while but just started posting!

I'm not a very girly girl and never wear make up. On my wedding day I didn't want to look like a completely different person and be covered in it! However everyone one I've talked to has said I have to wear it! I just don't think I'd be comfortable in it, but then don't want to look terrible in the photos!

Did any of you go with hardly any make up or totally make up free?

Thanks! Ali

    Hey,

A good make up artist should be able to leave you looking and feeling natural, but with just the coverage and accentuation of features to make you look amazing in the photo's.

I suppose it depends on the rest of the day - if you are wearing a fancy frock then I think you should consider wearing make up. I would suggest starting early looking for an artist and get a trial with them.

I'm not a girly girl either and hardly ever wear makeup and when I do, its a bit of mascara and eye shadow. (normally for a job interview lol, imagine their shock on my first day!!)

For the wedding I have got some loose mineral powder to just give a better finish for photos, as a flash can be harsh.

I then just plan to use a brown or clear mascara, a brown/tan colours eyeshadow and a fleshy lipstick, all of which i feel comfortable in and dont make me feel made up but do just help for photos.

I agree that you want to look like yourself and feel comfortable - but I do think taht some subtle makeup will make you and the day feel special! It dosen't have to be all makeup. Why dont you speak to some make up artists, get a trial or go to one of the make up counters to try it out and see how you feel.

That's really helped! I think I just feel odd, I barely even know what the different products are!!

The mineral powder i bought can be applied on its own after a moisturiser and I couldn't even feel it was on, it just smoothed out my complexion and looked a nice tone. Even my OH liked it and he prefers me without make-up on!

    Hi,

I rarely wear make up and when I do there is never very much so the same will apply on my wedding day, I'll be explaining this to my MUA at the trial and reminding her on the day.

This "no make up" make up look would work really well and it's very simple x

I never wear make up either, so know how you feel. But I was advised due to flash from the TOGs camera etc, I should wear some. So I am having a primer to avoid skin looking shiny and then the tiniest hint of eye shadow, blusher and some lip gloss. That's it, so I will still look much the same as usual, but hopefully will look good in all pics, whatever my temperature and flash exposure Smiley smile

Thanks, i am glad i'm not the only bride in the world who doesn't like wearing make up!

The temperature thing was a bit of a worry for me, i have a tendancy to go a bit red when embarressed/hot! Which i definitely will be on the day!

Thank you for putting this link in. Have learnt a lot about make up from that 15 min vid!!! Don't do much make up either but want to wear this type of natural look on my wedding day, so it lasts and I don't look shiny/red faced or whatever!
