Notice given! (permission to bounce?)

judeclarke, 28 April, 2011 at 10:39 Posted on Planning 0 4

We have just finished the legal stuff with the registrar! I'm not waiting for permission - ?

The notice will be posted later today and we get our certificate in about 3 weeks.

It wasn't as bad as we were expecting - although we got the nitty gritty of each other's job title wrong - and I cried when she asked for my dad's details (because he died a few years ago and I'm gutted he's not here to walk me down the aisle) but we're all done and paid for.

Got our decisions pack too, so we can choose readings, promises, wording etc so we'll wade through all that at the weekend.

And my ticker seems to have kicked into high gear and is running too fast!

If you're both British, it's really straightforward and not scary (for us at least). We were seen together first, where they checked all our documents and then were interviewed separately asked each others' full names, dates of birth, occupations and fathers' names and occupations. As long as you have the relevant documents (passport and proof of address is usually enough)it's easy peasy!

Some registry offices seem to vary - some do the whole thing with the two of you separately, some will let you do the whole thing together if you're both British.
