Novelty Cake Toppers- cheap- where?

tressls, 15 July, 2011 at 12:33 Posted on Planning 0 7

Hi all

Anyone know where (tried eBay) I can get a funny cake topper? It doesnt have to be personalised as I have no time for that and they are costly anyway but something funny.... preferably under £10 posted. ??

Depends on what you mean by funny?

    I had penguins... made myself.

Hobbycraft have individual characters but they are £10 each

Mrs C how did you make yours? I like the idea of doing a pair of dalmatians but I'm not sure if I'm that artistic!

    They are bloody brilliant!!!!

I will look at those in your link although as time is running out I may go with the 'safe' flower option... x

They are made with a polymer clay so you can keep them afterwards.

I love quirky toppers, I think all those little details make such a difference!

Right, I might just give this a go! I'm guessing Hobby Craft stocks the clay & then you just paint them?

You can buy the clay in the different colours, so no need to paint. but you might have to paint on the black spots for Dalmatians.

I'm thinking of making some dog cake toppers like Mrs C's too. A groom one that looks like Mr S's dog and a bride one that looks like my dog. OH isn't too keen so I will have to sneak them onto the cake when he's not looking.

No paint, the clay comes in different colours.
