I had ordered a few things back last year: venue, DJ, photographer.
I got a row last week when I ordered my dress for cutting it fine though so I've been on a mission since! : rings bought, bridesmaid dresses chosen but not ordered yet, hair and make up booked, cake will be ordered within next couple of weeks, currently planning hen do and choosing invitations and also plan to have a look at possible honeymoon destinations over the next few weeks.
Planning
is... getting there! Well, I'm not sure how much I am supposed to have
done so far. Some people tell me that I have been too organised (is
there such a thing?!) and some people tell me that I have loads to do so
had best get on with stuff!
We're getting married 1st November and have got most things sorted.
I'm ordering my dress beginning of May online and will be arranging BM dress shopping at some point. Think we have chosen FG dresses and shoes. OH is still looking for a suit but is arranging a day out with the lads at some point. We also need to chose my ring (OH chose his ages ago).
The biggest thing now is just paying for everything! But I have managed to buy my shoes and corset today (had a nightmare finding them in my size as I am ridiculously fussy with shoes, wanted flat shoe and have size 8 feet).
I'm a November Bride. 22nd November to be exact. So far I have my dress, booked the venue/registrar and the photographer. We have picked our menu and we have the colour scheme/theme. Still so much to do!!!
I'm the 29th November too! Has anyone with this specific date picked it for a reason? For me it's because we fell in love with our venue, wanted to get married in 2014 and it was one of the last Saturday's available! Most people who ask when we are getting married seem to think its a strange date!
November 22nd! I've been pretty organised to be honest, really hit the ground running as soon as the ring was on my finger!
Given notice, booked the registrar, booked the venue, the band, photographer, photo booth, make up artist, hairdresser, bridesmaids dresses, suits, my dress, veil and tiara, invites have been sent (didn't bother with save the dates), chosen the menu, sorted some decorations already, will be making the favours and since they're edible I won't start them until the week before, think I've pretty much figured out the bridesmaids' gifts. Just gotta get the flowergirls' dresses, sort the rings and flowers - then little things like shoes, ! Honeymoon is booked (priorities!!) so I think that's mostly it!
Does anyone know where I can get fake flowers/foliage/vines the run down either side of the aisle? Anything I've found so far is kind of thin and I want it to look substantial.
Oooo three date twins - exciting!!! Im getting married 29th November also ? become very lazy with the planning lately!! I sorted loads out pretty much straight after we got engaged such as the venue, photographer and the venue dresser. So far I've -
booked the venue
got my flowers (artificial ones)
booked the venue dresser
booked the photographer
picked my dress (being measured 3rd may for it and diet is not going well ?)
got my shoes
booked the registrar
got the bridesmaid dresses
sent out the invites
got the table names (disney princesses ?)
got the sweet buffet jars, signs, sweets, bags, tongs ect
got disposable cameras
got our wedding rings
booked the DJ
made our postbox
made the place cards
got the guestbook
booked my hair/make up
made a mr & mrs sign
got the children's activity packs
got the favours
booked the honeymoon
i think that's everything, still need to give notice and pick the suits, then lots of other little things to sort out....need to get my planning mojo back!!!
I'm 22nd November too - we've only booked the venue so far (got engaged a couple of weeks ago). Seeing how much everyone else has done already makes me giddy. Well done, ladies!
Another 29th November here...I always wanted a winter wedding and originally an xmas wedding but our local church doesn't do wedding during advent so closest saturday was 29th. We get lots of people asking us why that date too!
We have booked all the big things except OH's suits which is more difficult than I thought it would be.
Just the little things now and starting to think about making invites as want to send in July. Time is flying though...only 7 paydays to go eeeeek!
Oh my...you're all making me feel very unorganised and I thought we were doing so well! I just keep thinking it's ages away and everything will come together in the end. We're going to have to get a move on ? I'm not finding the planning as fun as I thought it would be...too many people with opinions on things. I just want to be married already!!!
One thing all my friends who are already married said is FORGET ABOUT WHAT EVERYONE ELSE WANTS! It's your day, this is the one time in life you can be selfish and have things the way you want them. People will always have opinions and you're never going to please everyone but that shouldn't be your goal. Make your day the way YOU want it to be and please the two people that matter the most - the bride and groom! I know in certain cases this can be easier said than done but so many of my friends have said that if they could do it again they wouldn't worry about what other people wanted. So we have followed their advice everywhere we can! Planning your wedding should be fun and exciting
I'm glad you have said that your invites are going out in July as I was thinking this would be a good time too but wasn't too sure- I'm not sure what the time scales are on these things! Is everyone else thinking of sending their invites out around this time? : )
I hadn't really thought about any sort of cover up but I suppose I should! Really want a good wedding umbrella though, preferably a clear one so I can see where I'm going!!
I'm getting married on 8th Novembe. So far we have:
Booked the venue
Got my dress, veil and shoes, dress fitting early Sept
Got bridesmaid dresses (they need taking up)
Flows girl dresses, tights, hair accessories
Booked hair and make up
Decided and booked company for venue decor and colour scheme
Booked photographer
Given notice
Cake being made by my mother in law to be - finalising ideas
Jars, tongs etc. brought for the sweet table
Invitations currently with the printers
The next things on my list are
DJ/ band - looking at options now and OH is going to look at suits this weekend. Have decided on artificial flowers and need to order them. Also looking into cars at the moment.
We plan to send the invites out early July. I go back to work after finishing my maternity leave with baby no. 3 so wanted to get this done before then. 200 days to go now and beginning to panic that I've still got loads to do!
Well we spent the long weekend planning our honeymoon and now I'm feeling loads better ? I've read a lot of threads on here about people having issues with family/friends opinions and it does make me feel better that I'm not the only one...although I don't like that other people are having similar issues. My new plan of attack is planning what we want how we want it and if people don't like it, then I'm sorry but it's tough. Got a few more things booked like the DJ and finalised the menu, picked favours and I'm feeling all happy and excited again ? Think I was just having a major wobble but hitched is great for picking everybody back up again.
On with the planning ? Oh and it's great to hear how everybody elses plans are coming along. I'm getting some great ideas!
Im getting married on 14 November planning going well, so far I have
my dress, veil & shoes
bridemaids starting to be made,
suits ordered,
venue booked, band & dj booked
church music sorted
hair & make up
flowers
cake
table decorations in process
invitations almost finished (just inserts to do)
Hen do semi- organised
So getting there!
The only thing I'm having trouble with is the honeymoon... we'd like to go somewhere relatively warm but not just a beach holiday, as we like to be out and about exploring things and doing activities etc although don't want to spend a fortune, anyone any ideas? where have you booked?
Have you thought about South Africa? We went a few years ago at the end of Oct/Nov, had a few days in Cape Town (which has 4 seasons in 1 day!!) and then up to Kruger Park, where we had plenty of sunshine so could chill out by the pool, safari, etc etc??
I had a very exciting afternoon yesterday as my artificial flowers arrived and then I had a call to say that my wedding dress was in!! Am going on Saturday to get reaquainted!!!
I am really enjoying wedding planning, we are getting married on 1st November and I feel like i'm organised but looking at all the other posts i don't feel very now!!
We have;
dress
suits
BM dresses (still looking for footwear for them)
Hair
ring (we got mine to fit my engagement ring, but have not got his yet)
Photographer
DJ
decorations
food & venue
invitations are currently being designed - hopefully to go out end of July.
cake - cannot wait for this!! So excited!
not sure what to do about favours (anybody got any tips and advice for a rustic favour for 70ish ppl?)
hotel booked for night of wedding.
transport to church! VW camper!
OH is also attempting a DIY photobooth!
What am i missing guys!???
I'm really excited and haven't had stressy family, i'm a really relaxed person - my motto is 'what will be will be', and 'if i don't like it i wont do it'! Seems to have got me quite far!
I'm a November bride too we get married on the 8th!
Mostly organised it's the extra bits I'm sorting out now to try and make things perfect :-) although only booked our photographer yesterday after a major wobble!
So exciting to chat to other brides planning their weddings at the same time! Eeek not long now xx
Four months today for all the other 22.11.14 Brides so excited, getting slightly panicked about money now though, and we've just cancelled our honeymoon as we were flying with Malaysian Airlines, and in light of the recent tragic event, didn't feel comfortable, so we now need to go back to the drawing board on that one.
Still need to sort the rings and suits and then that's all the big stuff done and most of the little things too, just lots of DIY and pulling details together now!
