I actually don't think I've had a bad gift, I must drop good hints or have thoughtful friends/family/boyfriends.

My ex's mum bought me a few treats.

Every year she'd make lavender pouches for my drawers and wardrobes ? and any kitchen appliance/utensil she had noticed I didn't possess as she wanted to ensure I was cooking properly for her son (the cards always stated this)
I had a suitcase that was the brightest colour pink and no idea why I needed one...
A sewing box and book about how to sew so that I could start sewing her son's ripped clothes and not send them to the tailors in future (the card said that)
A bright red jumper that had yellow, green and blue tassles all over it ?
    An indoor clothes airer

MIL is fab however, she asks H what I want so we've not had any disasters (yet)

A set of lavender cheap bath stuff from primark, from my ex. I have eczema which is made worse by cheap smelly stuff. He had also asked me what i wanted for christmas and i gave him some really good ideas, including a lovely book i was desperate for. He claimed it wasn't being published in britain and he couldn't find it anywhere. This was bull as it was written by a british author and was in the waterstones on the high street. I also suggested a 'care box' for when i went to university the following september. Basically he was too lazy to sort either out, and when i looked slightly disappointed by the rubbish gift he gave me he called me an ungrateful ***.

He broke up with me three weeks later too. THAT was a better christmas present!

We were given (it was a joint present) one of those toilet seats with a picture of tropical fish on it. We have no idea why they thought this was such a super present - we think it was an "oh crap moment" when you realise someone has got you something but you haven't got them anything and this was the first thing they found in a shop.
