Now i'm panicking about a videographer!!!!

AutumnRose, 14 June, 2010 at 20:55 Posted on Planning 0 14

...along with everythign else i've suddenly go to do i'm wondering if i'll regret not having a videograpaher!!!

Friends who got married last year rave about how great it is to look back on and how you notice things you didn't se eon day and getto watch guests arriving etc etc........i think i want one!!!!!!!!!

Do you think it's too late? No idea how much they cost...if you ahev one booked could you possibly tell me what you are paying and what you get for it?!?!?!

Other issue is H2B is an ex-pro camera man and doesnt know if he wants someone else filming him!!! Silly man is goign on about bringing his camera and setting it up/showing an usher how to use it!!! I really dont want him thinking about anythign like that so it'd have to be a professional company i think if we did book it!!!

    Hiya,

I havnt booked anyone yet but Im deffinately going to get one. Alot of poeple I know at work (7!!!) are getting married and Im the only person that wants a videographer.

So if you dont get it dont be too worried...but as your friends pointed out there are lots of things you wont see from your point of view on teh day and its nice to have that extra view. Also I know the whoel thing is just going to fly by so want to be able to watch it back. I think personaly the pictures just going to be enough for me lol

Good luck what ever you decide..

p.s. The websites Ive looked at on a general search for the essex area have prices ranging from £700 to over £3k depending what bits you want...its all packaged very similierly to a photographer. Outside london and surrounding areas will be cheaper

I live in kent and wedding is in sussex so sadly we have fallen into the most expensive bracket for everything we've booked!!!

Maybe i should get OH to call round some old contacts etc and see if anyone would do it for us! He's done it for loads of friends as a wedding present so really annoying to pay so much for it ourselves!! Still am not having H2B there with his camera, that would be crazy!!!

That sounds like a recipe for disaster. As he is an ex pro, he should appreciate that his art cannot be taught in a few minutes. Additionally, there is the audio element. No on camera microphone is really good enough.

If you can afford it, I would recommend that you do have this done professionally by a company that keeps themselves in the background.....and tell him to relax and have fun on the day and not worry about concentrating on anything apart from you!!!!

There's a company called fly on the wall and they were fairly reasonable, pretty sure they advertise on here. To be honest I wasn't sure about having one, having it for my families benefit, so cost was a factor. Look them up they are based in South London but travel to home counties

    That's who we are having

We're paying £799 for 8 hours coverage. Chris from curiousweddings.co.uk - based in Surrey. I have a feeling (might be wrong) that it could be easier to get a good videographer at this stage than it would to find a photographer so don't panic yet! see how much money you have left and then send out some emails and see what prices people come back with. your OH will appreciate having this memory to look back on, and also that he wont have to stress on the day

    good luck - it's SO close, aaaaaH!xx

if you have enough budget,go for it,might halp your h2b relax in knowing a more professional job will be done! Were not having one,as budget wont allow it and i cudnt justify so much money on it myself. Were going to have a family member film(im sure others will be to)my h2b will then edit these after!xx

I am a wedding photographer but have recently started providing video as well so I am very used to working at weddings and have five weddings under my belt as a videographer. In 2010 I am offering some very reasonably priced weddings to get the practice and footage for marketing purposes. If you may be interested do send me an email ***@**************.*** I am free on July 17th and in Sussex. I am filming Moya's wedding next week so I am sure she will give me a reference (hopefully good!)

There are a few short highlights clips on my website www.beverleydownie.com
