number of bridesmaids/MOH issue!

ThefuturemrsG, 5 January, 2014 at 15:44 Posted on Planning 0 12

Hi

I was just wanting some opinions really.....I am only having 2 bridesmaids, my best friend since school and my OH's sister and was wondering if I really need to have one of them as MOH or could I just have both as bridesmaids? This is not due to having to choose as if I did decide on a MOH it would be my best friend but I just wondered if there was really any point what with me only having 2 bridesmaids and I feel they will both work well together to support and help me on the day. Also my BF lives 2 hours away so is not as close by to help at short notice if needed which is another reason why im thinking to keep them both as bridesmaids.

How many bridesmaids are you all having? Do you all have a MOH?

Thanks in advance for your opinions!

I have three bridesmaids and won't be having a MOH; want them all to be involved as much as they can and would have found it really hard to choose between two of my BMs particularly if I HAD to have a MOH.

    Got 4 bridesmaids

my sister, SIL, and my two best friends.

my sister is my MOH i couldnt put anyone else above her.

in your situation i would keep them both as bridesmaids or if they ask say that they are both MOH.

I have two atm but no MOH, I wouldn't want anyone to feel put behind anyone else...you don't need a MOH.

It is entirely up to you what you do, it's your wedding! It doesn't matter what the 'done thing' is, you decide what suits you best.

For reference, I will have five adult bridesmaids and I am not having a Maid of Honour because I really don't think it's fair or necessary to single one out. They're all my friends and mean as much to me as one another. I have joked with one of them in private that she is my 'unofficial MOH' because she is an insanely organised, calm person, so she would be the one I would rely on to sort out any issues on the day.

However, no one will be given the title of Maid of Honour.

I have 3 BMs, 2 are my sisters and one is my cousin. I could never ever chose one sister over the other to be MOH and having two doesn't makes sense, so I'm not having one.

    Do what suits you best.

People keep asking me if my sister is my MOH, I don't really mind what title she has, but I'm paying for her frock, she'll be up the front with me, and her handbag will be full of my guff. What's the real difference in the title? Will one of your ladies being doing moe for you than the other? Atleast if the are both bridesmaids there can be no one-up-manship...? Smiley smile

Actually, Maid of Honour is American; the English is Chief Bridesmaid Smiley smile

And at the moment I have 3 BMs, which might go up to 4. I might ask one to be CB as I've known her the longest and she's doing a lot (hair, make-up, venue prep etc.)

I'll be having 3 teen bridesmaids and my brother will be fulfilling the typical Maid of Honour role. We're too close for me to not have him be a big part of our day.

I'm having 2 BMs and a MOH. They were going to be just 3 BMs but one really has been brilliant so I promoted her!

I am only having two adult bridesmaids; one is my sister and one is a friend - my sister is Maid of Honour but only because she has always said she wanted to be; she isn't doing anything more than the other bridesmaid!
