Numpties Unite!

twf, 23 June, 2009 at 20:53 Posted on Planning 0 10

Anyone else made some *** ups in the planning of the wedding?

Now I seem to remember I am not alone in my recent mishap.

Handed out a couple of evening invitations this weekend ... and the response, er yes lovely but when is it?! ? Oops, despite furiously proof reading all of my invitations on the evening invites I had left the date off. Have just had to have the whole lot re-printed, thank god for my lovely bil lol

Please tell me your Ooops dramas.

Only one I think - I sent an aunt an evening bus slip as opposed to a day one so she was trying to organise transport.....I might have written my togs cheque wrong but waiting to hear on that one. I overpaid the hotel and I'm waiting on the refund.

so far the numpties are affecting meeeeeeee....

    1. Pilot cant do the gig now and is trying to find a replacement.

    2. Royal mail have screwed up my floristy plans.

    3. Minister isnt getting in touch

    4. Seamstress making OHs outfit has made his jacket but not his waistcoat. Have had a bereavement recently the shop dont feel they can ask her to do the waistcoat. But shes going to have to.

    5. Honeymoon operators have to organise tranport PRONTO from corfu to our island as we are not taking any crap from them about cancelled boats.....

But its a fact all the same......... shes the only seamstress they have, the shop said it themselves, they need to honour the orders.........

if its not from the same cut of cloth as the jacket its going to look a bit odd..... might end up happening however..

    i wasnt being nasty!

Could you possibly buy the fabric, thread and findings off them and get it made elsewhere? Save putting pressure on someone who is grieving?

Well I can't think of a huge major mistake I made with my wedding but recently I have been invited to a wedding of a family friends. Unfortunately they didn't put their address on the invite for people to RSVP to!! ?

O dear, hope you manage to get it sorted teeheee, and all the other bits.

I keep thinking to myself, if all these lil things crop up now and we deal with them, then the stronger our marriage will be lol

O dear to the non RSVP too, now I know I have that one covered, mine is a postcard included to the invite! (phew)

Nothing.... so far... but give it time to reveal itself... am totally paranoid about dates on invites etc so have covered that off.... interestingly, we received an invite for a wedding and I was just about to write the acceptance card I'd bought only when it dawned on me that Sarah Kay is getting married on the 5th and I assumed it was a Saturday so when I saw the invite not displaying the day and only the 4th of September it made me question the day and lo and behold it is the Friday... thank crunchie I saw this and have now booked the day off! I hope all of their guests have checked this too!

I thought I had covered this too, I actually had a conversation with my sister saying ooo someone on Hitched had missed off their date and lo and behold I did the same ?

Am lucky that I did not have to pay for my invitations but felt so guilty cos I know how busy my bil is at work.

I made a ***-up on the day....does that count?

I arrived at a venue and did my usual of seeking out the bride and groom, congratulating them and giving them a card before starting to set up. Bare in mind I always meet my couples beforehand, albeit sometimes months before the wedding and couples always look different on the day. They thanked me for the card, looked at the front....then said thats not their names. The function manager tapped me on the shoulder and said 'you need the function room upstairs'....whoops.....I had to take the card back off them, apologise red faced and make a hasty retreat to go in search of my couple!

Does that make me a numpty???

I have 1 so far, h2b noticed it last night, big oops! No one has said anything or proberley even noticed.

On general info sheet, its says any specail dietary requirements. But I have put requitements! the letters are together and I am a touch typer thats my excuse anyway. But spell checker never picked it up and I checked everything. Will check mums later to ensure I did and its not h2b. All invites have been sent so can not correct.
