NYE!

Sez2bwhatley, 29 December, 2014 at 15:14 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 5

Now that I'm all married and civilised (so my grandma thinks!) we're having a grown up New Year's Eve party. Previously, Nye involved going out, having many drinks and then dancing into the small hours, but this year, no one wants to go out but still wants to 'do something together' so I've volunteered.

Here's the question; what should I make for a buffet? Ha! I'm all up for a table of cider and champagne, however, apparently nibbles are needed; are sausage rolls, pizza, olives etc ok? Or should I get myself to marks and spencer pdq? Lol

All suggestions greatly appreciated!

When we did a NYE / engagement party a few years ago we had two slow cookers going all day - one with chilli as has already been suggested and another one with a basic chicken curry, both with oven-jacket tatoes (so crispy skins) and they both went down a storm!!

We had chilli at a house party that we went to last NY. It is much less faffy to cook than a buffet IMO as it can be done in advance so you can enjoy the party too!

I am not a fan of stuff like pizza, sausage rolls etc. I would vote for crusty bread, cheese, pâté, olives, pickles, dips, crudités, grilled chicken, jackets, chilli, curry and rice.
