O My Bloody God!!! Help Please............ **UPDATED**

MrsWarburton2B, 21 September, 2009 at 22:48 Posted on Planning 0 17

Well my mum has just rang (she is arraigning the catering) and has just in formed me that the chef (the flipping' idiot) has rang and said he can not fulfill his commitments to my wedding with and amazing 26 days to my bloody wedding!!! WTF??????????????? ?

My H2B suggested doing a hotpot, chilli or bangers and mash or something along those lines instead but it's OK ordering the food but the venue we are getting married at does not supply any plates, bowls or cutlery etc!!!

I am really stressed and don't know what to do! [:'(]

I feel so deflated and upset I thought all this was sorted and now it's the biggest worry! I'm really stuck and ideas or advice would be very much appreciated!

***Hi ladies, Thank you all for your replies. The deep breathes really helped lol!

Thanks again for all your advice***

Okay- deep breath....whatever happens YOU WILL BE FINE!

Disappointed to hear this. Is there any way your venue can provide food/crockery at all? Does the chef have any contacts who can help? Depdning on number of guests and venue restrictions etc could you buy a job lot of disposable plates and have everyone bring a dish?

    Hugs

OK, deep breaths, does your venue have a list of recommended suppliers? I'm sure if you google you'll find plenty of caterers who can organise something - whereabouts are you? maybe someone here can recommend someone.

The venue does not supply anything at all other than rooms trables and chairs! The meal was supposed to be a sit down 3 course meal I could'nt ask people to bring a dish it wouldn't feel right. My guest numbers are 60 adults and 8 children.

They do have a list of suppliers but they are well out of our budget!! We have done some googling and sent a couple of e-mails and taken numbers etc but I can't help but worry!

We are in Manchester the venue is in Audenshaw, Manchester

There are places where you can hire plates and cutlery if you wanted to go down the route your H2B suggested. have a nose around on the internet and see if there is anywhere near you that does this.

    Hope that helps

Oh no, what a nightmare! If I were in that position I would first of all scour the internet to see if there is another catering company that can cover both food, and cutlery and croquery, and if that was a no go find a company who you can hire all the cutlery and crquery on its own. Following that we would have to worry about the food - maybe a hog roast? They often do all the salads and various accompanyments too so you woundly have to worry about anything. If it comes to you having to make the food yourself I would suggest a few massive curries - these can be cooked in advance and just heated up on the big day. If you ask your local pub I expect they would lend you some staff for the evening to serve and wash up etc. Hope this helps...thats the way I would attack the problem! Lots of luck in getting it sorted ?

Try your local pub for cutlery / plates etc. Failing that, try one you don't know very well, or a village/community hall or somthing. Do you know anyone who owns a cafe / restaurant / pub - even if they don't live down the road? I am sure people will be more than happy to pitch in.f can't do it?

Maybe last resort is asking 10 of your relatives/friends to each bring 8 sets of everything each.

Re food: think the chilli idea is a good one but can understand it is not what you had envisaged. Feel terrible for you - hope things have imrpoved since your original post...?

But before all of this, are you 100% positive the chef is unable to do it? Have you spoken to him yourself to find out what the issue is? It may be you came come to a solution together....

I'm sure threshers hire out wine glasses, and for plates etc what about ikea? it might seem a lot to shell out, but I'm sure you could sell on afterwards and make some money back. Finally as a last resort what about ordering in fish suppers for everyone? I went to a wedding where they did this instead of a buffet and it was fantastic - just what we needed after a few drinks. They'd obviously arranged it with the chippie well in advance but it worked well - they just delivered it in big boxes ?

Oh heck ... easy for us to say but don't panic. Pah, who I am kidding - I know how I'd feel if I was you so yes, you're allowed to have a little 'eeeeeek' - but only for a teeeeeny while OK?!!

I'd go with Ebee's suggestion - fish and chips (or similar)... its the easiest and least stressful solution I think, and I'm sure between you and your immediate wedding party you can get enough cutlery together. Folk can eat it out of whatever the chippie deliver it in .... it would put a really cool slant on the celebrations as I bet folk wont' be expecting it (in a good way!)

Good luck - let us know how you get on.

Im a bit late coming in here and hope you've managed to get everything sorted. Have you spoken to some of the supermarkets? I know sainsburys do catering, and I know you can also hire plates and things from them.

Let us know how you get on and dont panic!

Another Mrs Warburton!!! I am a Mrs Warburton too ?

Oh I can't believe someone could do this - don't you have a contract - can you sue the son of a ***** .......................

I've found some crockery hire companies that cover Manchester - don't know if you have contacted any of these yet?

    http://www.krockery.co.uk/ http://www.manchesterhasit.co.uk/business/2004/ http://www.barkerscateringhire.co.uk/ https://thorns.co.uk/

If you haven't got your catering sorted out yet, I can really recommend someone who is based in Congleton - you can contact Annette at Reuben Stubbs on **** - her food is very yummy!!!

    Hope this helps

What about some IKEA plates and cutlery (won't cost much) and a hog roast + salads?
