October 2014 Brides !

CoopsJ68, 31 December, 2013 at 12:12 Posted on Planning 0 269

Apologies if already a thread on this but I've searched the forum and can't find one. Just wanted to say Hi to anyone else getting married in October 14 and see how plans are coming on. I think I've got a good few things done but may think differently when I see others comments ! Lol. I can't believe how quickly the tracker is counting down, we've been engaged just a year and that has flown by so I expect the next 9 / 10 months will do the same.

So , what have we sorted. Venue booked , Healds Hall Hotel. Everything being held there so includes a lot of things , food , dj etc. Registrar booked and confirmed. Gave notice on Friday 20th December so that should be all sorted in a week or so. Received the paperwork from Registrars re choosing our vows etc , that was exciting. Insurance done. Dress ordered , due in end of March. BMs dresses bought , bargains in the sale at House of Fraser. TOG booked , cake maker chosen but need to come up with some ideas. Been looking at flowers , think I'm going artificial then I can keep them afterwards. Colour scheme Navy / Ivory. Got a couple of Wedding Fairs coming up , one at our venue so that's good. The other one is at Leeds United Football ground. Going to look at suits then I think , my other half not a big suit wearer so think that might be a stressful one. Hire or Buy ?? That's the question. Decided not to book cars , tweaked the budget and decided to stay at the hotel the night before instead , cheaper option ! Lol.

Anyway, sorry to go on. Probably forgotten something we have already done in this list but would be interested to know how everyone else is getting on. I know I have one date twin already , CharlyJack :-)

Hello Im an October 2014 bride too, im getting married on the 4th. It sounds like your very organised, I've only looked in one shop for wedding dresses but haven't properly been looking yet! We have booked the registrar and given notice, the hotel reception is booked which included the food and evening buffet and dj etc. and we have booked the photographer and wedding cake. The adult bridesmaids dresses have been bought but I still need to get flower girl dresses and flowers, mens suits (probably hiring) ,rings, invitations and probably lots more that I haven't thought of yet. Finally starting to get into the swing of things now Smiley smile

    Hi,

Nicola_25 I'm your date twin :-) I'm getting married on the 4th October too.

I've booked and ordered most of the big things apart from the DJ. We also haven't given notice yet as we only moved 2 weeks ago. I'm now left with all of the small things that seem to be taking forever; designing and making invitations, picking ceremony music and readings Ect.

Oh and we haven't booked a honeymoon as we are completely stuck on where to go.

i think the next 9 months will go very quickly & it's nice to have some planning buddies.

I've not really done much on the planning as in pictures etc , I have just started a scrapbook to try and get some things in there that I already have. I'm not as techy as a lot of people on here :-) Lol. But I'll try and put a few pics on of things I've already sorted. I'm keeping my dress to myself though , only me and my BMs have seen it and I want to keep it like that. I know this is an open forum so would rather not post just in case :-)

Hi! 16th October 2014 Bride here! You all sound like you are quite organised with everything!

We have venue, DJ, photographer and hair and make-up are all booked. My very talented Mum is making my wedding dress so that is well on its way. She is also making the 2 adult bridesmaid dresses. We have chosen the material (chocolate brown satin) and length (cocktail) but haven't quite decided on style as haven't made my mind up on whether to have them exactly the same or slightly different. Any opinions on this? Flower girls dresses will look at in Spring as just going to buy a summer dress from Next for them.Mens suits we are going to hire from Moss so that will be April/May time. Invite wording has also been decided so going to start making them up soon so we don't stress about not having enough time when we need to send them. We are starting to look at Honeymoons now but are struggling. Depending on where we choose we may delay it till January time. So Sri Lanka and Maldives might be an option. Have any of you guys got that part booked? I would be interested to know where and when you guys are going. Saw a forum feed with some suggestions....be good to see a few more!

It's all starting to feel like we are on the countdown now we are in 2014!! Good luck everyone with all your planning! Smiley smile

Hi Lolly2014 , glad you could join us ! It does help when other brides are around the same time for planning , looks like you've got lots of things sorted already :-)

Love the colour for your BMs , that was one of my first choices but unfortunately OH didn't agree :-( , oh well , I suppose he has to have some say and it's good when he does take an interest. I'm sure he will be more involved as it get's closer ! On same or different styles , think I'm a bit of an old fashioned girl and like to see them in the same , but that's only a personal opinion. One thing I've realised planning this is that everyone has lots of different one's but the important one's are yours and the OH !

Can't really comment on the Honeymoon , we're not big on holidays abroad so I think we're just going to have a quiet few days away in a lovely hotel in the Lakes or somewhere , not decided yet but plenty of time to look.

Not feeling too great today so I'm having an afternoon looking at guest list / table plans / invitations and anything else that pops up !

Well at least his interested in that if he doesn't like something he says! Thats better than always just saying 'whatever you decide'. My OH is colour blind so it helps as he leaves that side to me! lol.

If we don't do our honeymoon straight away we will do a mini-moon somewhere in the UK. The lakes are beautiful so good choice there. Smiley smile

Thanks for the opinion on the BM dresses. It's always nice to hear what other peoples preferences are. I originally wanted different but they have both chosen the same style in their top 2 choices so I am taking it as a sign! I think for the photos it looks nicer too. I am spending the week thinking about it....will decide soon!

*Waves* I thought I would introduce myself. I am getting married on 25th October!

We originally had our wedding booked and planned for Feb 15th this year but in July last year I found out We are expecting our first child!!

Our baby is due in March so as you can imagine, wedding plans had to go on hold.

I am a little overwhelmed as I haven't looked at any wedding stuff for approx 7 months and I am starting to alternate looking at baby websites and wedding websites.

We are going to go somewhere in the UK for a few days maybe a spa hotel/cottage or something and then we are going to go abroad the following year with our 2 children. Hopefully an all inclusive holiday somewhere hot but that's not too far away I hate flying.

The next thing on my list the invitations and flowers, then my dress!! I hate clothes shopping at the best of times, im overweight (currently on weight watchers) im short and I have gigantic boobs lol! So im not looking forward to dress shopping yet.

    Hi

I am getting married on 3rd October! Very excited! We only got engaged at the end of November, but started planning straight away. We set our date about 10 days after our engagement, and so far have booked: the church, reception venue and photographer. This weekend we are going to visit 2 cake shops and go to see cars, hoping to get both booked this weekend. We have shortlisted our DJ down to 2, provisionally booked a minister, and have quotes for bus hire (to and from the church from the reception venue), hair, make up, kilt hire and flowers. We have our bestman, bridesmaids, ushers and page boys organised. I have been to one shop to try on dresses, and have another appointment next week, then hope to place an order next month so we have enough time to get it altered etc. After I have ordered my dress the bridesmaids will start looking, although I have already chosen the colour scheme - Tiffany turquoise. We have been looking at centre pieces, and have an idea of what we would like, tall vases with thistles. Oh, we also booked our honeymoon at the weekend, New York then a Caribbean cruise, and have started our wedding website. As we got engaged in New York and we are going back there on our honeymoon we would like an american style post box for our reception, does anyone know of a website that sells card ones?

    I'm 11th October!

We've booked venue, registrar, cake lady (a friend), photographer, MUA and I've bought my dress and accessories, just need shoes. I've been emailing car companies for quotes and have a hairdresser in mind but need my trial before I can book the date and that requires getting my 12 yr old cousin down from Glasgow. OH has been to look at suits but they were getting a new grey in so he's waiting until then to try any on. I've bought little bits of decorations and have an idea for my invites and guest list is nearly sorted too, day time anyway.

I paniced the other day when someone reminded me there is only 9 months to go and not 10!

Double Congratulations 'Smartie83', just seen your other post about the baby. What date are you due in March , you must be so excited :-)

I've not even ordered my invites yet , just been looking at them and sent for some samples. I'm not artistic at all so won't be making my own I'm afraid. I didn't send save the dates out either but I have let all the people who are invited know the date. As it's a Friday I know people will have to book time off work.

Going to a wedding fair at our wedding venue on Sunday so I'll probably realise then there's lots of things still to do :-) Lol.

I can't believe how organised you all sound, you've sent me in to a panic!!

I have two wedding days - 1st and 5th!! We're doing the 'legal bit' here with 2 witnesses off the street on 1st then going straight from the registry office to the airport and having a humanist ceremony in Spain with friends and family present on the 5th. EXCITED!!! We got engaged on 5th Oct '13.

We have the venue booked (Molino de Santillan) and are in the process of negotiating with other suppliers over there such as photograher, hair and makeup, entertainers, flowers, cakes etc etc. We go over to Spain again in April to meet the photographer, have a hair/makeup rehearsal, menu tasting etc.

I haven't tried any dresses on yet but have an exact picture in my mind of what I want - I refuse to try anything on until March/April by which time I'll have lost a few of my 'softer' edges Smiley winking

Congrats, October brides Smiley smile Smiley smile

    Another October bride here ?

We've decided on 11th October for various football related reasons (OH is a season ticket holder) as its international weekend ?

You all sound much more organised than me, I'm far too laid back for my own good!

Hi girls! I keep going in to panics and then telling myself not to be so stupid because I have more than 8 months left ... ???

I haven't chosen an invite style yet and I want to make them myself - we have an info website and sent out 'save the dates' (emails! ha ha!) it's abroad and I know quite a lot of guests have started booking flights etc already, so surely the invite is just a formality and doesn't have to go out too early!?

I haven't started with decor yet (and it's ALL about the decor) I feel confused as to what to buy here and courier over there, or just get a supplier (a decor company) to sort it all for us there? I really want to get crafty but wonder if I'm being unrealistic by trying to make everything and box it up only to have it all smashed up in transit.

I haven't looked at any dresses yet - I wanted to do myself a favour and lose some bejiggle first

I have to keep reminding myself - there are eight months between now and then. That is a lot of months. Perhaps I'll just make a list. I'll start with a list of lists I need to make.

Number one thing on first list: Sort ticker (why isn't my ticker working, please!?)
