October bride & grooms - a catch up

Weather Girl, 6 August, 2009 at 08:29 Posted on Planning 0 10

Well, our big days seem to be approaching at speed now so I thought it was time for a catch up. How are you all doing?

I still need to:

Buy presents for the best man, ushers, those doing the readings, etc.

Confirm cake details.

See registrar to go over the ceremony (appointment booked for early Sept).

Decide on table layout - where to place favours, etc.

Get table plan and name cards printed.

Get OH's wedding ring.

It doesn't seem like there's much left when I write it down but I'm sure I'm forgetting things!

We're due to see our florist tomorrow evening as she's doing a mock up of my bouquet and a centrepiece so hopefully that will go okay.

I can't believe how quick it's coming round now, when I logged on this morning it says 57 days!!! I was aiming to do quite a bit this week but I've had a migraine since Monday so haven't really felt up to much. I did play around with the seating arrangements though and I think that's sussed now. As for the weekend, we're hoping to go shopping Saturday to try to find OH a wedding ring - he did see one a few weeks ago but it was way over budget so he wants to have a look round a bit more before making any decisions.

Have you all got much left to do?

I had to postpone my wedding from June to October 3rd, so have pretty much got everything sorted, my dress has been hanging in my Mum's house since June!

I have changed a few things though, I bought 2 new BM dresses as I did not like the original ones, I have had to change my flowers (meeting florist on Saturday to discuss this), and I bought myself a new pair of shoes! And I need a new FG dress as she has grown out of her exisiting one.

BM dresses sorted and accessories and pressies

Groom and other mens suits sorted (and my to die for vivienne westwood shoes have arrived!)

I have just brought my W2Bs pressie - its AWESOME, but I cant tell you what it is in case she reads this! Have also got her a few small things too...one of which she has already seen by mistake which is a personalised erotic novel - and she's brought exactly the same thing for me! hahaha!

Catering done as is all the hire furniture

    Have my ring

Have just ordered gas Flambeaux, lighting, and a traditional round fairground stall with coconut shy, etc

Has booked registrar, decided on music and vows

    Table plan / table cards

Cccoooooeeeey date twin.....and nearly date twin!!

My 'to do' list is now nearly the same legnth as yours, ive been a super busy bee in the last few weeks!

mainly the finner details to organise, just like yours, (and of course need to fit in an awful lot of praying for good weather!!)

    I need to do-

    OOS

    table numbers

    Table plan

buy some big candles for centre pieces

start making favours, and fudge to go in them!!

Speak to our local vicor to organise our banns being read

    order cake + cake topper

    Dress fitting and groomsmen fitting!

Decide on songs for DVD + list of to play and Not play for DJ

Buy presents for bridal party and grromsmen!!

Thats all the major bits, just a few other decisions like whether or not to have a few balloons, when the chair cover lady ever emails back!!

has anyone bothered looking at a long range weather forecast, or is it completely pointless?

Its completely pointless! Lets face it, if they cant predict what the weather will be tomorrow, how can they predict what the weather will be in a couple of months...

(hangs head in shame as he goes to look at the long range weather forecast!)

The weather is one thing I'm not actually worried about lol. Because our ceremony and reception is all in the same place we haven't got to worry about getting to and from places and we've gone through indoor shots for the photos just in case we can't get outside.

I think the cheapest white umbrellas I've come across is £9.99 from Pure Treats but I guess that can soon mount up if you need quite a few!

Emmyroo, you've reminded me that I need to buy candles too! I've been collecting glass jars for months so that I can put candles in them out in the venue's courtyard in the evening. Hope it's going to look okay!

Off to see florist tonight which I'm a little nervous about. Will have to update you all when I get home. Keep your fingers crossed for me....

    Hello fellow Octoberers!!

Well I've been a bit lax over the past week or two... H2B is on his stag this weekend so am hoping to get a lot of things covered off....

Have sorted the ceremony, in terms of decorations/flowers, readings, music etc and made the disks for this.

Have sorted the wedding breakfast music too, and "wet weather" music as the receptions drinks will be held inside if it rains - have started on the "disco tunes" must haves so need to send that to the DJ.

Need to chase the final stragglers on the invites and then sort the seating plan

Have bought the name places just need someone with neat writing to start them after the above is sorted.

Need to work out copy for our order of the day, and then engage our stationer who will do these, a guest book, post box, table names, table plan etc (sooo much less hassle!)

Need a wee trip to Ikea to get bowls for after dinner chocs and CDs for people to burn their pics onto and send back to us.

Work out seating plan for ceremony (family politics!)

Finish off my essay/dissertation length specific requirements for the venue for the day... (they're apparently pleased that I'm doing this and being so clear but I have a feeling they are calling me "Monica" behind my back!!)

Do a final ring round for all the suppliers and send them their cash

Have found so just now need to buy all the pressies for the wedding party and wrap these.

Sort out the cat sitter for the mini moon

Have my dress fitting (on Tues) and need to wear my shoes in....oh an get those gel insole thingys....

Oh... and have my hen do in two weekends time!!!!!!! ?

I'm struggling for ideas for the wedding party presents. Well, the women are fine but it's the men I'm finding difficult to buy for. What have you bought if you don't mind me asking?

We're not getting the dads anything. OH is getting his BM a bottle of whisky from his birth year or a posh brand (know nothing about this so leaving it up to him!).

We're having 2 girl ushers and one boy, who is my friend. So they're all getting goody bags, with things like mini bottle of champgange, boxed candles and jewellery for the girls and a silly "usher" badge for him and whatever else I find on my travels!!

IMy wedding is also 3rd October.

I still have to have my dress fitting - lady is currently on hol.

I've done seating plan for ceremony (only seating those who need to have reserve seats) but awaiting a few replies before I can do table plans.

Need to choose pressies for bridal party - I have no idea what to get esp as I've already paid for dresses and will be paying for hair and make up. Also need something for groomsmen, getting smaller (in size not quantity of photos) of our wedding photo album for parents. Any idea's for BM, Best man and ushers?

Need to pick up BM dresses (had nightmare as adult size 12 ordered by shop and not age 12 - so that comes in 2 weeks before wedding!!!!)

Got favour bags - just need something to go in them.

    Attend stag and hen parties.

Got meeting booked with registrar beginning of Sept - already seen wedding co-ordinator at venue so know what music and readings

Gosh, it seems like loads more when it's written down!
