odd shoes dilemma

blimey, 2 August, 2009 at 21:57 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 5

Mr Blimey and i went shoe shopping yesterday for some work /wedding shoes.

He ended up buying a bargain pair from Clarks.

He's just come downstairs utterley distraught (not really, i'm trying to make the story more dramatic) that his new pair that he was going to wear tomorrow are odd shoes.

He's going to take them back tomorrow but can't find the reciept, do you think they will swap them if they've got any left? He doesn't want the money back just the shoes.

or do you think he'll get a voucher or whatever they are called to redeem on a pair.

I'm thinking that they would be o.k exchanging without a receipt nowadays or am i wrong?

will they laugh him all the way out of the shop?

Oh dear. Hopefully if he takes them back tomorrow and explains they'll swap them for him. Try to find the receipt if you can though because that will probably just make it a bit easier. But even if you don't have it I'm sure they'll swap them. Probably just means that if they don't have a pair to swap he'll end up getting vouchers not the actual cash back though without a receipt.

Hope he manages to get a matching pair (or he could start a new fashion?!)

    Thanks daisy,

he's looked everywhere for the receipt, he can't actually remember getting one so is convinced now that the guy didn't give it to him (it was mayhem in there and i felt sorry for the guy serving on the till as they were very understaffed).

it's a shame the shoes are so similar. would have loved it if he'd turned upto work wearing one black lace up shoe and one with a 5'' heel.?

I used to work for Clarks and unfortunately this used to happen ocassionally especially at sale time. As others have said take them back in but to make it easier I would call ahead and explain as they may be able to put another pair aside for you or find the other odd pair to save you or Mr Blimey hanging around for too long, the name of shoe should be on the box if you have it or it may be written on the sale label. If they don't have it in stock they may be able to order a pair for you. Ask to speak to the manager or a team leader to get it sorted.

Another thing check the label in the shoe because sometimes you can get bargain shoes because they are odd pairs ie ones a 8 and ones a 8.5 so check he hasn't picked up one of these first, it should have been explained to him at the till point cos these tend to be non-returnable (unless faulty).

Let me know if you need any other help

    thanks Sujac,?

they were definitely the same size shoe, but different style, the sole was completely different as was the inside (one was black the other lightish brown).

Husband just took it as read that they were the same shoe ,didn't give them a closer inspection and didn't try them both on as it was hellish in there. Nothing was mentioned at the till.

I've texted him what you have said nad we shall see, i'm sure it'll be fine.

    Thanks again.

P.s I must admit Deliciouswitchchild I did find it amusing and if it was going to happen to someone it would be the husband.would have loved to see him hobbling around on one 'killer heel'.?
